We were in Federal Way visiting family. Usually we stay at Hilton Brand or Intercontinental Brand hotels, but there were none of those choices nearby. We decided that given our corporate discount and the proximity to where we wanted to be, this Comfort Inn seemed like the best choice. Overall we were very satisfied with this hotel. Modern and grand, no....but clean and comfortable absolutely fits the bill.
The hotel appears older but well maintained and very clean. The hotel is near a small local mall, Wal-Mart, grocery stores, etc. There is plenty of free outdoor parking at the hotel. They allowed us to check in early and were very pleasant at every interaction. Lots of dining options nearby.
On first entering the lobby, there is a reception desk to your left and a small breakfast / lobby area to the right. The breakfast area was a bit small but we were able to find a table even during peak weekend breakfast hours. Our room was a nice sized king room with microwave, fridge, and wet bar. The room also had a loveseat and table, chair and ottoman, and a nice sized work desk. Closet and bathroom space is acceptable. . The climate control system worked well, and the blower can be set to on for white noise. We were on the fourth floor and the room had vaulted ceilings which made it seem even roomier. The furnishings were a bit dated but clean, carpet, walls, and such were all very clean. The room had an old style 27" CRT TV, but had plenty of channels. No Flat Panel TV here yet, but given the price point of the hotel we did not find this odd. Plenty of plugs around the room for all the electronics we cart around. Curtains did a good job of blocking out the light. The king sized bed itself was comfortable but they have the weakest pillows...like ball them up and they are about as big as netbook! (And I use pretty flat pillows.)
You could hear a bit of noise from the hallways and other rooms but nothing excessive and nothing that kept us awake. No traffic noise was detectible from outside.
The breakfast was nicer than most free breakfasts. They had a multitude of breads, pastries, muffins, fresh fruits, juices, coffee, tea, cider, hot chocolate, milk, cereals, make your own waffles, blueberries, strawberries, sausage, and scrambled eggs. I found the eggs to be good but my wife did not like them. This was a very nice breakfast spread....nicer than most Hampton Inn's or Holiday Inn Express locations. They also had coffee and tea available 24 hours per day in the lobby. They even have newspapers for free on Sunday, a nice touch.
They have two computers but oddly no printer downstairs in the lobby. High Speed Internet connection was strong around our room. They had a small very dated exercise room but a nice indoor pool and hot tub. We would stay here again for sure if we were in the area again. Given the price point the hotel really delivers a quality product.
