This is a very bare-bones no frills motel. I had two very different experiences here, strangely enough.
Night 1: Amazing customer service from the front desk clerk. The bathroom was clean. I got a solid night's sleep except for briefly being awoken at 3am by some voices through the wall. Otherwise, it was a quiet night and no complaints.
Night 2: We actually checked out of the motel earlier in the day and then decided to stay in Seattle a night longer - so we re-booked a room about an hour before check-in. The experience was much different. The customer service at the front desk was not good. They weren't aware of my reservation (due to their printer running out of ink when the fax came in) and proceeded to look for my reservation for 20 minutes while I was falling asleep at their desk. Thankfully, they finally realized they could get my reservation re-faxed, install a new ink cartridge in their printer, and secure the room with the credit card they already had on file from last nights stay and let us go to bed. We were put in a different room than we had the previous night. This room was less clean, one of the two sinks didn't work, and I barely slept thanks to paper-thin walls that made it very evident every time the people in the room next door opened and closed their door. From 1030pm-1:30am, I heard the door open and close so many times - my best guess is they were doing drug deals. Seriously. I was very annoyed because I absolutely couldn't sleep. Now, is this the fault of Valu Inn? Not necessarily. It was just bad luck combining that with their paper-thin walls.
Lastly, I joke that the place is spelled Valu without the "e" because you don't get any extras. You get a tiny itty bitty bar of soap that I swear had a chalk filling because soap stopped coming off it. There's no alarm clock (or any clock for that matter), there's a shortage of conveniently placed electrical outlets (for charging cell phones), and I think every room is "handicapped friendly" due to a shower head that comes up to about 5'4" from the floor. I'm 5'7", so I was doing the limbo to get my head under it. lol. I feel bad for the average guy that's many inches taller than me trying to shower under that shower head.
So, in short, not the best place in the world. But if you're looking to save money (which, lets face it, these days, aren't we all?) - what you need to know is that its in what seems to be a safe neighborhood, the bed is comfortable enough, and the bathroom is clean enough.
