Suncadia is beautiful. We happened to have an east facing room that overlooked the river valley and around sunrise a low fog covered the valley and the rising sun lit up the sky, it was pretty amazing. I could see the same thing in multiple places in Washington from a tent for free. Yes, it's nice to be a in warm room in a comfortable bed, but the price didn't quite justify the setting. This same analogy goes for the rest of the resort. The pool area is very nice, as are the work out facilities, but it's possible to get the same or better elsewhere. The restaurant was also very very good, but, again, the prices, were hard to tolerate. My wife had a spa treatment and massage, which, again was nice, but didn't justify the more than Seattle prices. It seems as though a resort such as this about an hour from a major metropolitan area would try harder to draw by providing a better deal, better prices, better something, but other than the fact that these very nice things are all together in one place, it's not worth the money. If I were advising someone who doesn't live in Seattle, I would suggest that staying in Seattle would be better. There is more to do, in the end it costs less, and there's more variety. The only thing Suncadia has on Seattle is more sun and the natural setting, but it's pretty easy to get a very nice natural setting in Seattle without much effort/driving (go to Woodenville, Tiger Mountain, Discovery Park, Madison Park Arboretum, or Seward Park...etc... ) If you live in Seattle and are looking for a get away...unless you are really rich or don't mind spending way too much money, I would look elsewhere, or spend the amount of money you might spend at suncadia on a REALLY nice tent, blow up mattress, and take out and set up at a great many beautiful places east of the cascades and enjoy yourself in solitude.
