“A good nights sleep”

I always look for the bargain motel and have spent a night in more than a few "fleabags" As such I've developed my own rating scale for these often overlooked establishments.

We stayed here overnight while visiting Mt St Helens. From the Hwy it looks like 7 West must have been the original motel in the area, the exterior looks a little worn and could use a fresh paint job.

Check in was quick and easy and the rate reasonable. The clerk had limited information on Mt St Helens and he gave the wrong closing time for the Visitors Center. (He said 5pm, it was 6:30). Ice is dispensed by the clerk on a bucket by bucket basis and the office doesn't open until 7:30am so early risers are out of luck.

Our room was clean and looked newly painted. We had good nights sleep here and I'd stop again.

I give 7 West a 3 star rating on the "Hoz Fleabag Hotel" scale.

“You get what you pay for, not super clean, but not dirty either”

We're not picky at all, as long as the place is clean, we are happy. However, there was some dirt in the sheets. I'm sure it was from the dryer, but still. The bathrooms weren't spotless but they were good enough for us. For the price, it is a good value. If you're looking for no frills, hot shower, and a decent place to sleep, this is it.

The reason why this is getting such a high rating is that it's extremely cheap and for that, the value is excellent. If you're looking for new and decor go elsewhere.

It's clean, spacious enough, the rooms themselves are quiet, with good soundproofing as it's an older building, but there is some freeway noise. The rooms don't smell strongly as some motel rooms do and there are non smoking rooms.

The staff/owner are very helpful. There are rooms with kitchens and fridges.

I enjoyed my 4 nights there and would definitely return. It's very convenient for Mt St Helens anf great hiking.
