I have stayed in Econo Lodges before, so there were no expectations of any kind. This one was chosen due to its location near Tracy Castle, where my niece was getting married. The young Indian couple who run it are very nice and friendly and originally from Northern Cali (where I reside), but it is a "bare bones" operation. I asked for an upgrade of any kind, and they kindly put us in a larger room - albeit facing the street. Oh well, it was not THAT noisy. The room decor was nice and did have an Indian (as in Pakistan and not Native American) feel to it with all the red in the room, but they needed new comforters on the bed as they did not match at all and looked pretty old. The pool and spa were not open, but I would not have used them anyway, so did not care. For $60-something a night, I got what I paid for: a clean, comfortable room. And they throw in WI-FI as well! The continental breakfast was sub-par, but at least they had good coffee! I did want to mention one thing about the upgrade the gave me: I didn't realize until check-out that I paid an extra $10 for the upgrade and the woman who checked me in did not mention that she was charging me for the upgrade. When I checked out, I asked her husband (who was working the front desk at that time) why I was charged an extra $10 and at first he didn't seem to know why, then he asked me if I had been given an upgrade, and I said yes, and he said that is why I was charged the extra $10...I work at a hotel and we don't charge people for upgrades - unless it is a BIG upgrade and we tell the people that they have to pay the difference - but I was not told there would be an extra $10 charge. I know that it is only $10, but I should have been told there would be a small charge for the upgrading.
