I would rarely write a review this negative, but when I have a bad experience like this, I feel like other people should know and make their own educated decisions.
Firstly, we checked into our room, and even though we paid for a king room online, we got to our room, which was a queen. The bathroom lights were broken (not working, fluorescent bulbs needed replacement), so we went to the front desk asking for a king room, with functional lights. They made us wait a while (about 25 mins), amidst the construction being done in the lobby, which covered most of the walking area. We check into our new room and assume that the construction would be over at a normal hour. 6pm, 7pm, 8pm pass and the construction is still going. I believe they finally finished close to 9pm, and only upon our request that they stop the drilling.
Our room was outdated (circa 1982), had an "old-school" television (really?!), and the heating didn't work (it was either really hot or off, no controlled normal settings). Keep in mind, we received a "free upgrade to a junior suite," because they didn't have any other king rooms cleaned. Scary. Regardless, we were thrilled to be in the Pacific Northwest, and happy to moving to Seattle.
I can't attest for the breakfast, as we just wanted out. The next morning we checked out early, and due to a snowstorm, we asked for an ice scraper, which was sitting on the concierge counter for customer use. I used it on my 2008 Audi (which I have kept in pristine condition), we checked out and went to meet our movers. We pulled our car into the garage and left it there for a week, since the storm was so bad that our streets were never plowed (Seattle isn't prepared for snow and just waits until it melts). After the snow settled down, I went to get my car washed and saw that the ice scraper SCRATCHED the heck out of the three windows I used it on -- and my car hadn't left our garage since our stay at the hotel (I think the city of Seattle was officially closed for at least 3 days). After calling a glass company, they recommended that we could try to repair it ourselves for a minimal cost, or pay upwards of $1400 to get the three windows replaced. I called the hotel to see if they would at least pay the $40 for the repair kit (not to mention the time it will take, at least a few weekends) and they refused. This is after the acknowledgement from the manager that one of their ice scrapers had a divot on it, and probably caused the damage, but they "couldn't be sure that it was in the garage" and not something we did.
Hypothetically, I understand this, but when the city of Seattle is shut down due to a storm and I have family members willing to sign a document that the car was in the garage, I would think the LEAST they could do was pay the $40. Who knows if this repair kit will even work and I have to shell out the cash the get the windows replaced.
Regardless of the incident with the car, this was probably one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. It was seriously outdated, many items broken, and construction that goes on until late at night. It seems to me that this hotel doesn't seem to care much for their customers -- this experience was so poor, that we've decided to never stay at the Comfort Inn chain again.
Room Tip: Rooms next door at the Holiday Inn are probably much nicer.
