“Up and down experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

person found this review helpful

January 2012 stay. The price was moderate, the room was quite attractive, and the staff was friendly though the desk clerk had a terrible cold. The room was about 50 degrees when we opened it and the heater had only a hot cold rotating knob rather than a thermostat which would control the temperature so you were either too hot or too cold and I woke up twice because of each. There also was some kind of air freshener we couldn't find that was a bit overpowering. Hair dryer provided did not work

The breakfast was quite decent for a continental breakfast though the sausage and eggs provided were certainly very low end. There were waffles provided with sliced strawberries, orange juice, and muffins though. Quite nice for free.

Really a mixed experience. Probably would stay again after it warmed up, but not in winter.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from freeway. Quiet on that side.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us. Our first priority is Customer Service so thank you for all of your input. I sincerely apologize for your room being too cold for you upon arrival. To conserve energy we don't leave the heaters on in the rooms. We are in the process of upgrading all of our AC/Heating units to digital ones; however our current ones do have a dial that you can control the heat/AC with, and you just can't read the temperature.
As for your air freshener I am looking into this matter, however we don't use any perfumes or air fresheners in our rooms besides the chemicals and disinfectants used to clean and sanitize our rooms upon our guests’ departure.
It is policy for our Guests’ safety and our staffs’ safety to unplug the hair dryers from the wall outlet; this could be why your hair dryer didn't work upon your demand.
Here at the GuestHouse Inn Bellingham, we believe that a good breakfast will start any day off right, or at least give you the opportunity to help you bring on the days demands, that is why we offer so many different items. All of our breakfast items are 100% product including the sausage and eggs. We don't have a buffet warmer to keep the sausage and eggs hot, because then it would be a buffet and we would have to charge for our breakfast, so we keep them frozen and thaw upon demand for the day. We believe in Value for our Guests especially in this economy. Please let me apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I would love to welcome you back for a different experience at a discounted rate. Please contact me at corissa.sprague@gmail.com or directly at 360.671.9600. Again we appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.

“A smelly stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed one night in January 2012. The room was freezing cold when we arrived, so we turned up the heat and went out for a few hours. On our return, the room was full of a horrible sickly-sweet smell. It was late so we toughed it out, but we won't stay there again. Also, the hair dryer didn't work. The front desk declined to reduce our fee in consideration of our complaints.

First I would like to apologize for any inconvenience that you may have had at our Hotel, GuestHouse Inn. To be energy efficient we don't keep the heaters running in our rooms, only in our Lobby and common areas. I'm not quite sure what the "horrible sickly-sweet smell" was that you had upon arrival back into your room as we don't use any chemicals to cover or hide any odor. We do fog our rooms at times to freshen them if they haven't been used in awhile, or if someone happens to smoke in our Non Smoking rooms (We also charge them $150.00 for a cleaning fee if they smoke). As for the Hair Dryer not working, it is policy that our housekeepers unplug the hair dryers after cleaning the room for two reasons, first as a safety feature to our Guests and housekeepers because as soon as you remove the Hair Dryer from the base that it's attached to it starts running immediately and secondly to make sure that we are staying energy efficient and not wasting our precious resources. I am saddened to hear that you won't stay with us again even though I would love to welcome you back for a different experience. If you change your mind please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll make sure that your next stay with us will be a memorable and enjoyable one. My email is corissa.sprague@gmail.com or my phone is 360.671.9600. Thank you for choosing GuestHouse Inn for your lodging needs this time around and I do hope that we get the opportunity to serve your future lodging needs.

“Warm and Inviting Atmosphere”

In December of 2011 my husband and I stayed one night at the GuestHouse Inn. We were specifically looking for a hotel that offered the Stay & Fly option as we were flying out of Bellingham airport the next morning for a 4 day Vegas trip. On this plan, we stayed the night, enjoyed a great breakfast with lots of choices of warm and cold entrees, parked the car free for 4 days and upon return, were picked up at the airport by taxi and driven right back to the hotel parking lot FREE. Great service indeed! Excellent Senior rates offered. Much appreciated!. Will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: We were happy with our ground floor room on the highway side. Had an excellent sleep, even slept in...

“Has It All....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

I have used this hotel for our company business many times. It is a very good budget hotel. Staff are great. Breakfast is nice. TV has cable service. The drawbacks: you cannot download attachments to emails (which makes no sense).

“Clean, right off highway, good place for Mt. Baker”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Stayed in Bellingham in order to go to Mt. Baker for a weekend (Bellingham is roughly 1 hr and 20 minutes to Mt. Baker). Picked the Guesthouse Inn based on reviews on Trip Advisor and everything people said about this place was accurate. The rooms were clean and spacious. Plenty of room to fit all our bags and snowboarding gear. Microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, tv with OnDemand & HBO. Breakfast was very good. Waffle maker with strawberry & whipped cream topping, 4 types of cereal, 3 kinds of bagels, english muffins, toast, muffins, apples, 2 kinds of eggs, sausage patties, variety of juices, coffee, peanut butter, jellies, cream cheese, etc. Basically something for everyone. The only thing disappointing was that the hot tub stopped working. We turned it on and nothing happened. I called the front desk and was told the pump was broken and they were going to close it for the evening because of this. Not a huge deal, but would have been nice after a day of snowboarding. Would stay again.
