My husband and I went down to Seattle for a quick Christmas shopping trip in mid-November. We like to stay in Bellevue, as we find it to be a bit of a safer, nicer area than staying in Seattle. We booked this hotel by bidding on priceline and got to stay for a very good deal. We've stayed at other hotels in Bellevue for a similar price, so here is my review on this hotel!
Rooms:
- Rooms were clean, beds were comfy. Rooms are definately a little dated. It's obvious the hotel updated their front entrance way, but hasn't done much for the rooms yet. Bedding has been updated, but the tile and bathroom are still very old. The shower head was super low. I am 5'6" and I couldn't even stand under it. You can imagine how my 6'1" husband felt!! However, the rooms did the trick. We got a good night sleep by running the fan in the evening to drown out and hallway noise. There was a mini fridge we found useful. As well, the sink is outside of the bathroom door. I find this useful to be able to get ready without having to be in the humid bathroom. My biggest complaint was after our room was cleaned the first time and we got back to it, it smelled so strongly of bleach. Housekeeping obviously uses bleach to clean the tile floors, but wow, I don't think it was diluted at all. It smelled like walking into a chlorine pool. We had to open the windows and I used a wet towel to wipe down the floors. In the middle of the night I woke up and my throat was killing me from breathing in the bleach smell. I had to open the window to the freezing cold air and put the heat on to try and get rid of the smell. I am suprised that a hotel would use such concentrated bleach to clean. Some people (ie me) are super sensitive to smells and bleach is disgusting. For that reason alone, I would not stay here again.
Lobby:
Front entrance is really nice. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. No complaints there!
Amentiies:
Internet is via cable only in your room. So bring your laptop, don't just bring your itouch like I did, or else you can't connect! I think this hotel really should upgrade to wireless! If you forget your laptop, there is one computer and printer in a room near the lobby. That was a nice feature to have. I used that to check my email. You could print your boarding passes there if you needed to, etc.
Fitness area - we didn't use it, but checked it out. It had about 4 cardio machines and that's it. But better than nothing I guess.
Pool - I think it's outside. We couldn't find it. It was closed for the year anyhow.
Breakfast - free continental breakfast each morning. This was nice to have. It mainly was loaves, muffins, pastries, cereal, milk, coffee and tea. It would be a nice idea for the hotel to put some fruit into the breakfast. Maybe some low fat yogurt too. Not everyone wants to eat pastries and sugar in the morning!
Parking - free! Lots of it!
Location:
Good location. Close to Whole Foods. We are from Canada and tried that grocery store one night. Wow it's expensive! But the food was good. It's also super close to Bellevue Square (fantastic mall) and many other amenties. Definately a good, central, safe location.
Overall, we got what we paid for. It did the trick. If you are looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at for a couple of days, this is fine. Don't expect 4 or 5 star, because I think this is a 2.5-3 star at most. That being said, due to the bleach issue, I personally won't stay there again.
