I have been staying at this hotel for years as business brings me to Bellevue, and I have previously written a positive review. It saddens me to update my review of this hotel with the reality that it's slipping -- the next time business brings me to Bellevue, I'm likely to look elsewhere. By no means was my stay terrible, but this hotel now needs some work.
First, on service. I am a Hilton Diamond member and accustomed to Hilton properties doing a good job honoring the room preferences in my profile (high floor, away from elevator). On a few of my most recent visits to this property, the hotel has ignored these room preferences. This includes just last week, when my room was right near an elevator on a low floor. In such a large property, I find that irritating. Furthermore, when I inquired at check-in if a different room was available, the clerk gave me attitude about it.
Service at check-out was also irritating -- at prime check-out time (~8am), the hotel had one clerk working the front desk. She was doing her best, but between a long line of guests and a constantly ringing phone, she was falling behind.
The hotel also needs renovation. The guest rooms are out-of-date, with aging wallpaper, fading curtains, bland carpet, etc. My most recent guest room also had very poor lighting and was freezing for the length of my visit -- to get the room to be 68 degrees, I had to set the thermostat at 88 degrees. It's time for a thorough update of the furnishings and decor.
Again, not a disaster -- but slipping in quality, both facilities and service. Will certainly investigate other Bellevue hotels on my next visit.
Room Tip: Rooms facing the highway have some noise.
