“Clean, Quiet, Comfortable and Cozy with Colonial Charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

This treasure nearly slipped past our notice a few years ago as we traveled South on U.S. Rte. 11. We were taking a Winter escape weekend and were delighted to find a room available. Comfortable and colonial with lots of interesting reading material, we enjoyed the crackling fireplace in the room. TV was available for checking Washington news and we could also stroll along the beautiful grounds that lead to the North Fork of the Shenandoah. Breakfast in front of a blazing colonial fireplace and great coffee are also reasons we plan to return.

“Hospitality at it's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the inn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The accommodations are clean, comfortable and very well maintained. Ed Markel, the owner/innkeeper is a gracious host, who along with his wife and family have created an outstanding retreat in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

“Peaceful and lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

Clean, charming rooms, wonderful service, quiet, peaceful, cozy. Secluded and woodsy, but easy access to restaurants and shopping. Highly recommended.

“Returning to family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

I have stayed at the Inn on numerous times and would not hesitate to make a recommendation to you. One time I knew that I would be late getting in and Ed had a room ready with the fire going for me. I sometimes drive the 12 hours from here in Canada just to go to the Inn for a break. The surrounding area is beautiful and it is worth while spending a few minutes over a nice breakfast with Ed. He can direct you to all of the local places of interest. Go and enjoy and live the day!

We found the Inn to be very relaxing and warm. Very clean. Great breakfast. The innkeeper was extremely helpful with recommendations. Beautiful grounds near the river. We would definitely return.
