This is the second time that we have rented a slope side condo on the property. We have rented different units. Both times, the owner-occupied unit above us was incredibly loud. I guess this is the risk one takes in renting a condo at a resort over winter break. However, hotel management was very accommodating in trying to keep the noise at a minimum.
The resort's condos are rated gold (highest), silver and so on. The status of a condo only indicates its location relative to the slope -- although we were told otherwise -- not its upkeep or condition. Last year, we stayed in a silver condo; this year we stayed in a gold condo. This year's gold condo was actually in poorer shape. Housekeeping is mediocre – and even missed a day. And, upon arrival, we had to clean the bathroom sink, the kitchen trashcan (it had food stuck to the lid in several places), and hair from the tub.
We spent three hours at the tennis courts on the first day -- due to minimal snow. The three-court indoor facility was absolutely freezing. We wore our ski jackets to play. We are experienced players and can reliably report that the tennis pros are only mediocre. In addition, we scheduled court time and tennis clinics ten days before coming, even confirmed our times only a few days before our arrival, and the tennis staff still messed up. Surprisingly, this resort receives accolades for its tennis facility?
Regarding the skiing, we don't have enough good things to say. The ski staff (administration and instructors) are accommodating and attentive. The Guaranteed Learn to Ski program is outstanding and very economical. You don't have to be a novice to participate in the GLS program. Even if you are an advanced beginner or intermediate skier, you can take a GLS lesson a couple of times for one price; pick up new tips each time; and receive personalized attention in a small group setting.
Be sure that whomever is selling you your lift ticket and rental equipment is knowledgeable. (One day they charged us $50, and the next day they tried to charge us $85 dollars for the same thing. Senior staff straightened it out when we called them on it. This also happened to us last year.)
A member of our family had to be transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the University of VA Medical Center twice during our stay. Each time, Wintergreen picked up the cost. In addition, Wintergreen gave us a nice break in the price due to the poor snow conditions (not their fault) and loud neighbors above us.

I want to thank you for your review here on trip advisor and also I want to thank you for visiting the resort. The resort as well as many other northeast ski areas are experiencing a slow start to our season, but we all hope that mother nature will cooperate and give us the temperatures we need to make snow and make the guest experience on the slopes a lot better. The resort discounted tickets from our normal holiday time rates so it was challenging for the staff to remember to discount the tickets from the normal season rates, for that I apologize and will pass this information on to our ski operations director. I also see where you had noise issues and I hope that management resolved it quickly for you. I hope the person that had to go to the hospital is doing well and I am glad we could accomodate getting them to and from the hospital. I hope you enjoy your future visits to the resort and if you have any questions at all please contact the resort and we will be happy to answer them prior to your arrival. Thank You again and have a wonderful 2012.
