Unfortunately, we got stranded in Winchester, as I blew the clutch on my car, and needed a hotel. We were recommended the Wingate, and I knew from previous experiences, this chain is very good. The lady at check in was very nice, suggesting places to go, friendly, good conversation. The room was clean, smelled nice, etc... Wingate hotels have the BEST BEDS of ANY hotel chain, same w/ the pillows. Bathroom was roomy, shower was hot, though could use more water pressure. TV was a "flat screen" tube tv, picture quality was slightly off. Our wired internet never worked, wireless worked, but very slow. Plenty of TV channels though. The business centers PC"s were both infected with malware & spyware. One wouldnt let you go to any sites, another wouldnt let me get to hotmail. Location is GREAT with multiple restaurants within walking distance, the mall is across the street, and basically every major retail chain is within a mile radius. I highly recommend going to the downtown/old town part of Winchester, its amazing. The walking mall is very old fashioned and worth a day trip. We had to walk everywhere, and never had any issues. When checking out, we needed to leave our bags there as our car wasnt ready, and they gladly held our luggage till we came back. The staff here is excellent and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. There is a indoor pool, no jacuzzi, and a free breakfast in the morning (which we didnt have). Checkout is 12, which is MUCH better then 11am. Outside of the business center and faulty internet, I was VERY pleased with my stay, and will stay here again.

Location, cleanliness, room size, etc were all great; however Windgate fails in 2 critical areas.
1. The sheets don't fit the bed. My wife and I both had to get out of bed several times to put the fitted sheet back on the mattress. Thus was supremely annoying.
2. The TV was old school tube TV and the picture quality was very poor. We had to call the front desk to ask what channel CBS was on. Turns out that it was a hidden channel for some reason.
While everything else was fine with this hotel, there are tons of similiar quality hotels within a few blocks that probably do equally well or better.
Also, they now welcome pets. We saw 3 cats checking in. Not a problem for me, but could be significant for allergy sufferers.

Room was above average - large and clean. Personnel were friendly and helpful. Business oriented location, with business center and free faxing. Breakfast was definitely above average. And rates are great. All in all ---- Excellent value!

Have returned to this property and the next time I'm in Winchester, I'll stay there.

We stayed at this hotel on september 26th in room #223. This is a King room with a classic TV-screen and a micro and fridge. The rooms with the even numbers are towards the street. There is a guest laundry on the second floor. The rooms around (#201, 202) will not be very quiet. The laundry is open from 8 AM till 8 PM.
The breakfast is warm (eggs and sausages).
