“Good clean stay for family get away!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My family of 4 stayed at Colonial Crossings 2 nights on a groupon deal. Check in was quick and easy. The resort in January was pretty empty I think we were the only family in building 3 during our stay. We found our 1 bedroom to be clean and the kitchen to be well stocked. The balcony off the bedroom looked out to the woods witch was nice and peaceful. The rooms again, are great the property itself has nothing to offer on site. The should not call themselves a resort for this reason but I guess during summer months when the very small outdoor pool is open would help some with making this place more of a resort feel.

We are glad you enjoyed your recent stay with us!

Occupancy at the resort during the winter months is typically lower. Nonetheless, the resort does offer year-round amenities such as a fitness center, locker rooms, a game room and a business center. We do also have a seasonal outdoor pool.

Our Member Services staff arranges daily activities year-round. For example, chocolate making with a chocolatier and movie night with popcorn are offered weekly. Our staff is always adding new activities for our guests so we hope you will take advantage of one of these in future stays.

Thank you again for staying with us!

“Nice for the price- has a few issues......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I stayed here in late July with my 9-year-old son and his friend. We had been planning a trip to the area for a show in Hampton and a visit to Busch Gardens. I had reservations at a different hotel when a Groupon came up for this property. For the price, it was a good value. Of course, we arrived an hour before check-in time and we were told we could not check in early. I find it hard to believe our unit was not ready and after a 5 hour drive, we just wanted to change and try and get to the beach which was 45 minutes away. A minor annoyance, but as a veteran of the hospitality industry, I just expect a little bit of effort to be made to accommodate guests.
The one-bedroom room we were given was perfect for the three of us. It was comfortable and very clean. The only real disappointment with the room was that the jacuzzi tub was not in working order.
The pool area was okay. The pool itself was way too small for the number of units. I found that the water was bathtub temperature due to the hot, humid days of late July. This is not a refreshing way to spend an afternoon! There were a few activities- and although the staff tried, they were ill equipped to handle the number of children who were present for the event. They did have a nice little grill area set up and sold reasonably priced burgers and snacks, but again, the area was not set up for the number of guests and the wait for these items was often very long.
When I checked out, I asked if there were any additional charges since I knew we had purchased items by the pool and they did not take cash. I was told no- which was a surprise. The following week, I found charges for these items on the credit card I had left on file. Honestly, I expected these charges and was not really upset about them. I was annoyed that when I asked if there were charges I was told no and never received or reviewed an itemized receipt. As I work hard to afford the few short trips we take each year, I am interested in seeing exactly what my money bought. This seems unorganized at best and dishonest at worst.
If we return to the area, we will likely try the original hotel we booked. While this was a nice place, and if we got the same kind of deal would be worth another try, it did not bowl me over with its amenities and property. The staff is nice enough, but I don't think they are given the tools they need to develop the property as a "resort".

Room Tip: Wall are thin! The corner units on high floors are your best bets.

“Nice place”

Stayed there with a groupon-$125 for two nights. Loved the room and the staff were friendly. We loved the high ceilings and separate sitting area with a pullout bed. We had the electric fireplace on and watched a rented movie during a December visit. It was quite cozy. It was great for what we paid, but calling it a resort is a bit of a stretch. There were no activities planned. The workout room has only enough equipment for two people at a time, and the outdoor pool is very small. There is no indoor pool and the staff do not open the workout room and activity room (also very small) on time. You have to look for them and hang out while someone is paged and comes to the area. So if you are looking for a resort look elsewhere. But if you want a great room the price is right at the groupon rate. While we were very happy we would not pay the regular rate with all of the great hotel choices in Williamsburg. The resort is 15-20 min. from the historic area and a little longer to Busch Gardens. It is right across from a Walmart, which is convenient. The property was very clean and the kitchen was great. But if you plan to cook, bring some dishes. The kitchen is sparsely supplied- not adequate for cooking as far as supplied cookware. The only other complaint we had was that the walls seem to be paper thin. We could hear conversing and laughing next door during the day and night, even though our neighbors were not loud or rambunctious. And I am not sure why we were given a room on the fourth floor, as most of the units were not occupied. We would stay there again. We plan to keep our eye out for a groupon that would get us the same deal so that we could bring our kids this time and come during the summer for four nights. But if we see a similar deal at another resort we will go there instead.

Colonial Crossings is a nice simple place to stay while we visited Williamsburg. Not a whole lot at the resort but the staff was helpful in finding us restaurants and things to do.

“Place is nice but watch out for charges”

Stayed there using Groupon Deal, first they charged an amount for taxes $16.50 and then next day they had another $10 amount charged to my credit card. When I called they said total shoudl be both together. I just do not understand why they didn't charge all together. Excuse was someone made a mistake. People are nice but lack of knowledge and experience. Rooms are okay but ppl upstairs made a lot of noise for two hours every night. We just ignored.
