“More than I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2005

Quite honestly I was apprehensive about staying here after reading all of the lousy reviews on this site...however my fiance and I were traveling with 4 children (ages 8-16) and I needed 2 rooms. As any traveler knows...lodging can be quite costly...the price was right at this hotel. We arrived and were greeted warmly by the front desk staff person who quickly ckecked us into our rooms. We were given rooms right next door to one another just as I had requested in my original reservation. However, I had requested a KING when I reserved and one was not available at check in so I had to settle for a Queen sized bed...No problem. The kids did get the 2-double beds I asked for. The rooms were small and functional and quaintly decorated. Because there was an in-window air conditioner the room smelled a little like damp cloth when we first walked in but after we aired the room out there was no further problem during our stay. The bed was better quality than I had expected. The sheets were crisp and white with no hint of wear and tear. I was VERY IMPRESSED with their bath towels. They were LARGE and THICK and very white. The same is to be said of their hand towels and wash cloths. I have stayed in some 5 star resorts that didn't have towels this nice. All in all our stay at this hotel was pleasant. I would go back and stay at this place again. If what you are looking for is a roof over your head, clean linens, and a comfortable place to sleep, then this is a great place to do it.

Positives:
Wonderful towlels; bath linens
Fresh sheets
Nice comfortable mattress
Easy and convienient parking
Friendly Staff
On site Guest Laundry ($1.50 wash/$1.00 dry)
Tidy well kept grounds
Lots of cable TV channels...no limits like the bigger chain hotels have.

Negatives:
Small bathroom...no tub...shower only
No daily maid service (Ie: bed made up) but they did bring new clean towels daily.
NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST even though the web site states it serves one.

“Princess Anne great bargain and Nice Stay”

I recently visited the Princess Anne in Williamsburg and it was great for the price I spent for my family to stay. The rooms are quite large with two queen size beds. I was quite nervous about the reviews I read on trip advisor but the pool was clean, the staff made sure we had plenty of towels and they did change the sheets everyday. Some guest are never satsified and ther are always people who find problems with every little thing the princess anne was okay in my book and i will visit again. my children can't wait to go bacl.

“Very Deceiving!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2005

This hotel was NOT what it said it was!!! There is NO VCR and NO dataport as stated on the website! We booked a King size, smoking room and we were confirmed TWICE for that. I checked in and had to tell the receptionist there that she was putting us in the wrong room, as she was busy reading her book, that we were to have a king size bed. She giggled, put her book down and gave me a different key. When we got to the room, we were given a Nonsmoking, 2 double bed room. I immediately went back to the office, where the receptionist, still reading her book, giggled hysterically and said, "Oh my!! I gave you the wrong key!! We never have anyone want a king size bed! It's in the back so you will have lots of privacy!" She then informed me the whole hotel was non smoking and that I could do whatever I wanted, just not burn holes in the bed or carpet, because management might find out!
We got to the room, and it was nothing like the pictures. It was just a plain hotel room, with an old fashioned deadbolt lock that didnt look very secure. There was no inside lock for added security. There was gum in the corner of the room, plastic wrap under the bed and a horrible smell coming from the bathroom. We had to leave the exhaust fan on the entire time. There was also a sign stating we needed to make sure the shower curtain was inside the tub before using, however the curtain was 6 inches shorter than the tub.
There were workers there at the pool when we were in the pool and the one man was complaining and was repeatedly dropping the F bomb and many other profanities. There is also NO continental breakfast whatsoever.
Would NOT return there, would most assuredly NOT recommend!!! Left as soon as the office reopened in the morning.

This place is a dump. There website is very deceiving, the pictures of the hotel look nothing like it in person. The pool was gross and dirty. Stay away.

“ruined my family vacation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2004

When making my reservations I was told that we would be staying at the Westgate Resort. What a suprise when we got there and saw the run down place that we had to call home for 7 days and nights. It was horrible. There was mold around the bathtub and dirt built up around the toliet. The paint was chipping off the walls outside of the rooms and everything was extremely dirty. Also I have never stayed at a place that you had to pay $0.75 for a local phone call. Also they charge you $50.00 whenever you check in for a so called deposit for your key, but whenever you give them the key back you sure do not get your $50.00. I got $14.00 back out of my money. They charged for 2 different taxes plus a $2.00 a night tourist fee for the city of Williamsburg. I can assure you never again will this happen.
