My husband and I stayed here the weekend before Christmas. Warm greetings by the doormen as we arrived, (they were always friendly and cheery) not too impressed by the front desk ~ I think they could have hired someone who had a little more polish. Our room was very nice, a bit dated, but comfortable and clean, bed was comfy and no noise in the hallways. The bathroom was updated ~ all marble and very spacious, very nice. We had dinner in the Regency Room the first night, and my dinner was horrible. Crab stuffed flounder - completely dried out flounder and way too much filler in the crab meat. My husband had the filet with veggies and he thought it was very good. There was a nice combo playing and guests were dancing, and it was very pleasant as we sipped our Prosecco and danced a few dances. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant ~ very, very pricey and not worth the money, IMO. We ate lunch the next day in the Terrace Room and it was not much better. The breakfast buffet, which was included in our package, was just fine, although trying to get a cup of coffee/refill was a bit of a hassle. Would recommend dining at a restaurant outside the Inn.
The decorations were lovely - a gorgeous tree, lots of fresh flowers and greens - a very nice feel for the holidays. There were lots of families and folks in their senior years. We got the impression they had been there many times. It was a nice weekend, and we would probably stay there again but definitely not have our meals there. There's lots to do, good shopping and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The Inn is very charming and romantic, but could use a little updating.
