“Return Visit as Good as the First One”

My husband and I returned to Williamsburg last weekend and decided to return to the Comfort Inn Historic Area. We stayed at the Comfort Inn Central in December and, while it was closer to some of the places we wanted to go, we hadn't realized how close it was to a busy railroad track. Williamsburg isn't that large and the difference in distance was not an issue when we considered the quieter surroundings. We had a great rate of $44 per night and found the room as nice as before. We do wish that a microwave and refrigerator were in each room but it wouldn't keep us from coming back. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. This may not be an issue with other people, but my husband and I each brought laptops and found the electric sockets were not in the most convenient places, but again, we improvised and made out fine. All in all, we had a very nice stay again and will most likely stay there when we return.

“Good place to stay in Williamsburg, VA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I found the people at the desk to be most helpful. The room was clean and neat although it could use some renovation. This is a handy-capped room and the bath was a normal sized one that had to be stepped over to get into the shower. Other than that my stay was very good and comfortable.
The hotel is located centrally in Williamsburg and is only a few minutes from Bush Gardens and the Williamsburg historic district. I would recommend it to people with families and business people as well.

“Good deal, good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

I got a great deal on this hotel by using Choice Rewards (look on the choice hotels website - it was cheaper than the all the other travel sites!) It was so close to the historic area, but also very convenient to restaurants and the outlets. Easy to get to. Its not a brand new hotel, so might not be as fancy as other places, but a really good value. The breakfast was standard - not too much in the way of fresh fruit and pastries, but they did have make your own waffles and coffee, which was enough. A nice place.

“Wish I could rate this hotel higher but ~~~~”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

The location of this hotel is good, the lobby is lovely and the staff was friendly depending on which staff member you spoke with. My reservation was made through the 800 number and it was for a king-sized bed, accessible bathroom on the first floor. When I checked in, the agent on duty said no such room existed. I asked if she had a "handicapped" bathroom available at all and she said there was nothing available. She did offer me a room on the 4th floor with a king-sized bed. It wasn't the size of the bed, it was the accessible bathroom that was important to me. Since I was there just overnight I accepted the room. I had to be careful when entering the room because there was a couch which allowed the door to be opened only half way and of course, I had to be especially careful in the bathroom because there were no grab bars in the tub. The breakfast area has issues also. It has an outside entrance which is not all that convenient on chilly mornings. The attendant on duty was very surly, rude and non-caring. The hot water container was empty and when I alerted her to that fact, she said it was heating and would be right out. It was five minutes (I timed it) before she brought it out. For people who do not have the need for an accessible bath, the room would have been fine I'm sure, but I don't think I'll make a return visit to this particular hotel.

“First Impressions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Picked this hotel after being told the Lord Paget had ceased trading. Lucky choice I think. The reception area was lovely and inviting The reception staff were cheerful friendly and helpful and fortunately our room was very near the reception and the coffee station. Situated only a short drive from Colonial Willimsburg and restaurants and shopping it suited all our needs. We spent 5 nights here but chose not to use the indoor pool as it could not be accessed from inside the hotel. The only downside to this hotel was that the breakfast room had to be accessed from outside and on chilly mornings this wasn't too nice. The person working in the resaurant while we were there was rude and surly and I never saw her clean a table once. If people asked for help she just grunted which is a shame as all the other staff were very nice. Met a couple from Conneticut who have stayed at this hotel every year for the past 5 years and they still like it. We could also use the internet at the Hampton hotel next door. Recommend this hotel for value, comfort and location.
