We arrived early for our extended weekend trip to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. We called ahead and asked if we could check in early to rest before going out to see the sights. The manager/owner stated they would most definitely have our room available and it was no problem. Big plus! When we arrived, check in was a breeze and we were given a room on the first floor. The hotel is half a block off a main thoroughfare, but it is still very quiet. We were able to park right in front of our room, which I like to be able to see our vehicle from the room! Our room had the standard, basic amenities: microwave, mini fridge (no extra charge), hair dryer, table/chairs, two double beds, flat screen tv. There was adequate space for the three of us. The room smelled fresh and was exceptionally clean. There was no indication of pests (we picked up the mattresses and checked the drawers). We checked out the pool area, with was nice and clean. We didn't have the chance to use the pool because we did so much sightseeing, but it was well maintained. Even though our room was near the pool, we were not bothered by any noise from the other guests. The bathroom was clean and sink had a nice granite countertop that was spacious. I have to say that the carpets were the absolute cleanest I have EVER seen in budget lodging! We walked around in our socks and not one hint on dirt! I couldn't believe it! The owners obviously take pride in their place and keep it very clean. I was not worried about my daughter playing in the floor. There was a continental breakfast offered but we didn't try it-- my husband wanted to take a tour of all the local pancake houses during our visit.
We were so happy with our stay that we extended it one more night. Went off to Busch Gardens for a few hours and talked ourselves into staying another night. We called and asked for another room and told them we had checked out a little while before. They of course remembered us and said they would hold a room for us-no problem. We arrived late after the park closed and was given a room on the second floor-a suite. This room had two double beds and a sleeper sofa. Was just as clean as the first room and bigger!
*My only gripe, if you could call it that, is both of our rooms had a door to the adjoining room. The only security feature was a deadbolt with a twist knob. The door was very thin and in both rooms, our 'neighbors' were testing out the door. I didn't feel unsafe at any time, but feel the doors should be a little more sturdy.
When we return to Williamsburg to take advantage or our season passes, we will most definitely stay here again!
