After a bumpy beginning, I had a relatively pleasant experience at this hotel. I called several days before my arrival to confirm my 6-night stay (booked through hotels.com). After a long flight I arrived at the hotel around midnight. Lo and behold, they couldn't find me reservation. The girl at the desk looked everywhere and she just could not locate it. Mind you, this reservation was prepaid and confirmed. I just stood there quietly and waited for her to figure it out. Finally she just said, "Oh well, no problem, I'll just give you a room". Good thing the hotel wasn't sold out! I made sure I didn't give her my credit card, either. I didn't want any surprise "double bills". OK, so I went to my room, number 240. It was ridiculously hot because the A/C had apparently been off for a very long time (it eventually did cool down after I turned it on full blast). One of the lamps had a burned out light bulb. There was hair in the sink. There was trash behind the refrigerator. I went out to get something from my car and guess what? The door would not close! The mechanism was broken and the only way to close it was from the INSIDE (I don't know how they closed it the last time they left). Finally, when I hooked up my laptop, the wireless internet wasn't working. I called the front desk about the door and the internet and she apologetically told me that nothing could be done until the next morning. So I went to bed. The next morning I awoke to a knock on my door. The same young lady who I had seen the night before (she works very long hours!) stood there with the keys to a different room. She apologized about the door and the internet and I moved directly next door to room 238. The difference was like night and day. The room was clean, the door shut easily and the wireless internet worked fine. Ironically I noticed they had sold my first room the very next day and I saw the guy staying there trying to close his door, so apparently they never did fix it. At any rate, the rooms are ok but are a little dated and on the small side. But for $55 a night ($65 on Saturday) at peak season, the price couldn't be beat. I would stay here again but I would first check out my room before moving in. Make sure to ask for a room at the back of the hotel (where I was). It was quiet, the view is pretty (woods and trees) and you will be away from the noise of the street and the pool. One last thing about the room: the internet works OK when it is actually connected. I had to manually re-connect my wireless every day but it wasn't a big deal. Finally, unlike other reviewers, I did not like the restaurant next door (Sal's). I ordered some food for pickup. When I went to get it, a snotty teenage girl looked up from texting on her cellphone as I entered. I said I was there for a pickup. She actually rolled her eyes and sighed (I guess because I had the nerve to interrupt her texting) and said, "are you ready to pay"? I commented that I would be ready to pay as soon as I saw my order! They brought it out, I paid and left. The food was very pedestrian. Plain salad with tomatoes and onions and the cheese on the lasagna was so sticky and congealed it reminded me of glue. Oh, and what good restaurant serves "buttery spread" with the bread instead of real butter. Only go to the restaurant if you are starving and desperate!
