If you are looking for the luxury spot on the beach then the Belvedere is not for you. If you want a place that is friendly, clean, quaint, and can deal with the fact that this is an older facility and it does not have all the fancy luxuries then this is a great place to stay. We tried it out as they were #1 on the trip advisor recommendations and we were happy with the results. We were going to stay at another hotel but the place had such mixed reviews that we called the Belvedere and were able to snag a cancellation for a quick last dash to the beach.
I am not a fan of open corridors as generally they are very noisy but I have to say that our first floor room was very quiet. We were close to the main office and I was never bothered with the noise for the office, parking lot or restaurant nearby. There was no noise coming from the other rooms around us either which was really nice. The only thing that we could really hear was the surf and the early morning maintenance of the beach outside.
Some of the pictures show older bedspreads etc so I have attached photos here as our room had nice white comforters on them. The carpet was in good shape and the room had a flat screen tv and a small frig - perfect for chilling down my wine. The bathroom is very small but you have to remember when this place was built and the fact it is not a huge high rise luxury hotel. The furniture in the room was nothing fancy but we were out and about and not planning on hanging in the room too much.
As mentioned above the beds had fresh white comforters on them and the sheets were a decent quality. The foam pillows were a little tough but ok. I thought the bed was a bit stiff and uncomfortable but I am used to a softer mattress at home. We had double beds and my husband thought his bed was a little stiff too but ok.
There are three really great things about being here. The staff is great - the hotel is family owned and run and they really care about the facility and guest. The owners are so warm and easy to deal with and you really want to see them do well. We were also impressed with how outgoing the guests were and how happy they all seemed staying there. That says something about the place cause we have stayed at 4 and and 5 star facilities where you won't find that kind of warmth and outward friendliness. It just goes to show you what a wonderful and welcoming place the Belvedere is.
The last good thing about the Belvedere is the coffee shop. This place is TINY but yummy. The guys behind the counter are the fastest around I swear. They look like iron chefs as they serve up your basic yummy greasy spoon breakfast. The waitresses here too are just as warm and friendly as the rest of the staff and you certainly want to make another trip here. The line out the door speaks for itself!
We certainly recommend the hotel and hope to come back very soon - even next week before they close for the season.
