Stayed here for Valentines in 2011. Very nice hotel for the money. The beach was right out side the door. The lobby is real nice. We needed extra pillows and they brought them within minutes.

I live in Virginia Beach but decided a special night at the oceanfront hotel was worth the money. I reserved ( and had confirmed) a king non-smoking room. I checked in and walked into a smoking twin room. When I went back to the desk I was essentially told we are sold out and you booked through Expedia so you get whatever we have left. No offer of any effort to help make it work - air filter, fabreze, etc.

This was certainly my last use of this hotel and unless Expedia makes an attempt to make it right my last time using them.

On a side-note, mahi-mahs, their restaurant, did do an excellent job.

We had an oceanfront room on the 7th Floor. Great sunrise, great views, great balcony. Fabulous room, clean, sizy. Bathroom could have been a bit bigger. Has pool and hottub. Friendly check-in staff (Olivia checked us in). Free wi-fi. Free valet. Location was good and nice and quiet. The other end in the 30's was all built up, high rise hotels, with cheezy tourist shops, etc. NOt as calm as our end. Mahi Mah's Restaurant is an elevator ride away. :)

Definitely value for the money for a 3 night Christmas stay. No crowds and definitely more bang for your buck. Some reviews on this hotel mentioned this place is old and/or "worn" - I did not agree. Also, for the deal you get pricewise in the off-season, we found it fine. For the record, I also saw no evidence of renovation.

Not to forget to mention the balcony view we got also of the infamous annual Christmas lights all along the 3miles of boardwalk. MAGICAL!

I would definitely stay again.

We just returned from a 3 nights stay. Off season rates were what attracted us. This hotel has been purchased by the developer doing all of the high end construction in VB and he/she is trying to instill some of that feel here, which is good. The staff is perfectly trained - respectfully, courteous, responsive, from the valet to the front desk to the maintenance man, everyone we encountered was either a long time service industry veteran and knews what's expected of them from a paying customer or Ramada's new owners had Gordon Ramsay teach a seminar on customer service. The staff made up for some of the short falls with the physical condition of the building. When our door wouldn't shut property, the maintenance man immediately arranged for us to move to a new room and took the broken room out of service. When we called down for extra blankets, they brought them up as soon as they could. The night staff even loaned us the microwave in their lounge to make popcorn because there is no guest microwave available. The onsite conceire found us discount tickets for the USS Wisconsin tour in Norfolk. Yes the building is old and some areas are worn, which they are trying to cover over or fix in a pieccemeal fashion (ex: new dual shower heads in old shower stalls) but the beds and pillows were confortable, the ocean is right outside your room, the linens and towels were clean and plentiful and the location was perfect for venturing out to some of the eateries and saloons. I would stay here again in the off season. When they finish updating/renovating, this place might be worth in season rates.
