We picked this hotel on a friend's recommendation thinking that it would be a nice place to spend our vacation. We quickly realized this wasn't so when we had to call six times for new towels and woke to find the "Free, hot breakfast" was stale pastries and instant oatmeal.
The employees weren't rude, but were rather indifferent. They all seemed like they'd been on their feet for at least 18 hours - they seemed completely exhausted, and it showed.
The place was moderately clean in general, but absolutely in need of updating and repair.

Me, my husband, my mom, and her BF use this hotel in june 2011 it was great. They were really nice to us, and made use feel welcomed. im going to to use them again this year 2012. cant wait.

me and my boyfriend stayed at the sandcastle hotel dec 24 and dec 25. the price was very reasonable and the staff, friendly and helpful..the room was clean and very functional. the breakfast had waffles and the usual fare and plentiful. overall, it was a very pleasent stay. we would stay again.

We arrived with coupon in hand on a last minute getaway. We were given a beautiful oceanfront room at a great price. The people at the front desk were so helpful thru our whole stay. We love Virginina Beach & will definately make this the hotel we stay at every time. The hotel is being renovated, but the rooms are very nice & classy....and especially CLEAN!

Pleasant stay. Great ocean view room. Not the fanciest place in the world, but it was perfectly adequate for my needs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the water and I would recommend 4th floor or higher.
