Nothing to totally swoon over but it was a good hotel for the price. We actually were upgraded to the suite at no extra charge and that was GREAT!! The room was clean and the beds were comfortable enough. ( I also did a bed bug check and they were all clear!) Though this hotel is not ON the boardwalk if you are in their front parking lot you can see the boardwalk and ocean right across the street and that is good enough! The owner was very friendly and we really have no complaints. The room we stayed in needed some attention to detail such as caulking issues around the bath tub and some minor "little touch up's" because it's an older hotel. But really if you will be spending all your time at the beach like we did and are just needing a place to rest then this is worth it!

This is great location steaps away from the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We booked a 2 bedroom witch are all on the back of the building. There was no view to speak of. The room was clean and included a full kitchen. The one thing the Clippership needs to address is there is no air in the back bedroom. I think that a fan might help the situation. I would recommend this motel as a place to sleep and go to the beach. I would not recommend this motel as a place to hang out and spend your day.

There are many reasons why I adored my trip to VA Beach. The quality of service at the Royal Clipper Inn & Suites is one very, very courteous and in a kind and nice way, Especially during the Hurriccane Irene, I never felt unsafe. And to the contrary of lot of the peoples stayiing there who had left, I did not want to leave besause I felt very comfortable at that place. The manager had nicely relocated us to the rear part of the motel so that we would feel more safe. Depending of what you are looking for, this place is very comfortable & very clean!!. Unfortunetly, I don't have any picture of that motel. I stayed from august 21st to september 5th.

We had a 2-room suite on the back side (away from the water), on the third floor, including a full kitchen. Unlike another review I found it very nice, roomy, clean, no odor, good beds. WiFi (a must for the kids). Good for the price. 1/2 block from the beach.
Downsides: No elevator on the back side (don't know about the front) - this was not a problem for us. The back room does not have a door, just an open doorway, so privacy is less than desired.
