After a extensive and frustrating search, my best friend, a Va Beach resident, and I finally fell upon the Dunes as a affordable solution for our memorial weekend plans. We're both budget-conscious college students and were able to stay there from Friday to Tuesday for around $600, which was great price considering the holiday. The events that were going on, the spacious room with microwave, refrigerator and beautiful balcony were well-worth it. We had a blast until Tuesday morning. I had an early morning flight out and put in a wake-up for 3 am to the front desk, as well as setting the room's alarm clock. Well that call never came and the alarm never went off, causing me to wake up approx. 30 minutes before my flight was set to leave ORF. I had to scramble to call a cab and make a run for the airport home-alone style and left it up to my friend to give the staff a piece of my mind. Other than that fiasco, my trip was good and I've stayed in worse hotels . Plus I went home with a bag full of clean clothes thanks to the two laundry rooms the hotel offered, though the lack change machines made for interesting runs to the arcade room that didn't take my dollars ... thank goodness for the convenience store across the street lol.
