Our stay was good until Wednesday January 9, 2008. The crew and I returned from working that day. We are contractors that use an old ambulance. The ambulance would not fit into the parking garage. All the other front desk clerks eagerly allowed us to park our ambulance in front of the hotel where there were two available spots, the clerk working that night refused to more her small silver sedan that could easily fit into the garage, because "I got a dent in my door and they wouldn't insure me, so I ain't parking up there no more". This is just after we had paid for two more rooms for three nights, making it a total of two rooms for seven nights.
She (the front desk clerk that night) refused to contact a manager so we could discuss the situation. She said, "No, he already went home tonight."
It is appalling that since one person considers herself to be holy than thou and place herself above and beyond paying customers. No disrespect to the rest of the staff at EconoLodge but I highly recommend taking your hard earned money elsewhere.

Management response from Arthur Schultz, SUPERVISOR
(Management representative)
12 Jan 2008
Since there are two ECONOLODGES AT THE BEACH, they can get confused about which is which. The one these people stayed at was the ECONOLODGE OCEANFRONT AT
2109 ATLANTIC AVE.. they have a GARAGE.

The ECONOLODGE ON THE OCEAN at 2707 ATLANTIC AVE. has a parking LOT, NO garage AT ALL. so anyone reading the above COMMENTS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THEIR CONFUSION OF PROPERTIES. thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Hotel staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were very clean and the price was good. The view was wonderful! Right on the ocean, above the boardwalk. Breakfast was ok---some fruit would have been nice. The parking might be a pain if you are travelling during peak tourism season. Great restaurants right across the street and a nice pool inside hotel.

My first trip to Virginia Beach to see my son, stationed at Oceana Naval Air Station and family; went by reviews online of this hotel.
We had a great stay and would go back. Hotel employees were very helpful, even gave us names of grocery stores and directions to them, gave us the upgrade we asked for. All were friendly and polite, especially bellboy, Joseph, who helped us move all our luggage (a lot) to our rooms. We could'nt have asked for a better place to stay. Private balcony, and ocean view was amazing, Watching the sunrise and sunset, beautiful. First class service all the way.

For starters, the parking area is very tight and low, making it difficult to maneuver larger vehicles. The lobby was very clean and tidy and there is a pool in the lobby which was not much bigger than a kiddie pool and only has a depth of 4 feet. Checking in was quick and easy, though the desk clerk did not give us a warm welcome...in fact she gave us no welcome at all, just asked "What's your name?" The corridors were very shabby looking and the room was in need of a major overhaul. The bedspreads looked like they hadn't been washed in years. Underneath the toilet seat wasn't completely clean, and the phone was absolutely grimey. I scalded a washcloth in hot water and washed some of the filth off the phone before I used it. One thing that made me want to stay at this particular hotel was that they offered free high speed wireless internet service. I could not get a signal most of the time, and when I could, the speed was honestly about as fast as a 14.4 kb connection. We didn't want maid service during our stay, but on the second day we gathered our used towels, bagged our garbage and left a small tip with a note on top of the miniature microwave (the door of which was very hard to open) asking for additional coffee. When we came back to our room, the tip was gone, 3 packs of coffee were in its place, the towels were gone but had not been replaced and the trash was still sitting on the floor. We were not pleased about that, of course. On an up note, the hotel was very secure. It wasn't too bad for the price, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Quite honestly, this isn't that bad. The view on the balcony is very nice. The maid was very rude to us, even if we kept the room in a decent order for 4 guys staying in a 2 beds + kitchen. The pool is VERY small and full of kids screeming. This would be OK if the prices weren't so high! The location is very good for night life and restaurants. The other hotels near by seemed to be better, but we booked late and we had no room in other hotels of this area. I sugest any other hotel if you can find space, this one is OVERPRICED. You don't get what you pay for, you basicaly pay to be in the middle of everything. I hurd you can get rebate coupon and pay cheaper, you might want to look for that.

  • Liked — The ocean view and location of the hotel
