“Reasonable choice for a D.C. visit”
We stayed at the Extended Stay America location in Springfield, VA because it was close to a Metro station and because we had vouchers for two nights that we had won at a fundraising auction. The hotel applied the vouchers to the first two nights of our three-night stay, which happened to be the more expensive nights, leaving us with only the third, cheaper night to pay for. We got one of the bigger rooms, which included a full kitchen and a sitting area with sleeper sofa separated from the main bedroom area by a partial partition. The room was spacious and clean and had two TVs. It was marked as nonsmoking, but had a definite smoky odor that permeated our clothes. The hallways were also noticeably smoky. The location is not very scenic, across the street from a large warehouse, but we weren't around much except to sleep, so that was OK. The Metro station might have been walkable in better weather (i.e., not summer), but we chose to drive about a mile instead. The hotel is pretty convenient to a large mall and nearby shopping areas, and to a fair number of restaurants, decent if not really fine dining. On the whole, not exactly a resort, but it served our purposes. The staff was polite, competent and helpful.
