I am Puerto Rican born and raised. I visited Culebra a while back and had a terrible experience with lodging, so this time I did my research. I also hate the ferry, so i flew. Pricey but worth it. After reading these reviews I decided to give Casita Tropical a try and we we were not disappointed. The reviews are accurate and Molly was a great host. She was there when needed without hovering. We rented a jeep ( would've rented a golf cart but there were 5 of us) and it was nice to be able to get around. It would've been a pain to get around by foot, although Molly would provide transportation to the beach, we wanted to explore the island. So rent something to get around ( bikes even!)

If you are looking for a hotel-like room- service type atmosphere, then don't stay here. But if you are looking for friendly, honest, affordable and clean lodging, that is close to town and the beach, then do it. We rented the house and the large efficiency for 5 of us but would've been ok with just the house (the house looks smaller in the pictures than it really is). It was a great space though, and we were able to have privacy without other guests nearby. The ac in the bedrooms was nice too. There are windows and fans throughout the house as well. You will need ear plugs if you are sensitive to noises from roosters and other night bugs.

It was also nice to have a kitchen for quick meals and we only ate out once a day. Molly is a wealth of information and will tell you where the great snorkel, swim spots, and restaurants are saving you time and tour money.! She even has snorkel gear available for you! I love this little island and plan to return and stay here in the future.

We really had high hopes for this island and even after the ferry was sold out (on a random Monday- so no matter what the locals tell you, show up in Fajardo at 5:30 am. There were at least 3 local families in line behind me who couldn't believe it!) we were not disappointed! Molly was more than great, with adjusting to the missed ferry and picking us up at the airport. She didn't even laugh at us that much for having brought way too much stuff (as usual). Great recommendations on where and when to snorkel, taking us to the beach if she was home, and just providing us laughs and friendly conversation. The room was a homey size, nice comfy mattress, plenty of places to hang wet/salty clothes and a center kitchen with our own mini fridge. Also, after sleeping way too late on our first morning, we had banana bread sitting out waiting for us- delicious. Book here, especially if you are looking to enjoy the island while not spending all your money on a place to sleep. Get a golf cart, not just because it's nice to visit as many beaches as possible, but it's a small island, you're probably not going to be in a hurry, and it was way cheaper than a jeep. Thanks Molly!

This was awesome! Centrally located near the airport and easy to get to anyplace you want to see; huge space in the cottage, and the most gracious host. Molly picked us up from the airport and treated us like long lost friends. Advice on where to eat, where to snorkel, and she also was kind enough to lend us beach chairs and snorkeling equipment. We will definitely be back!

We had a fun stay at Casita Tropical with Molly as a gracious and generous hostess. We arrived on the 6:30 ferry, and she gave us a ride in her green golf cart to Flamenco Beach, along with tips on where to get a good breakfast. We enjoyed the company of the other guests at a wonderful dinner party our second night there. Everything we needed was provided - cooking utensils, sunscreen, snorkel equipment, a comfy bed, a good shower, books, hammock, washing machine.

We stayed seven wonderful nights at Casita Tropical. The house with adjoining large efficiency. were spacious and clean. The covered patio was our favorite spot. The owner, Molly helped make our stay better than we imagined. She told us about great snorkel spots, places to eat, cooked us a fantastic meal and shared Sophie (her dog). The loan of snorkel equipment, ice boxes, toiletries and clothes washer allowed us to pack light. We look forward to staying at Casita Tropical again!

Room tip: Great value and atmosphere!
