“Should have looked at Trip Advsior..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

.. I usually do but I was just looking for a room for a one night business trip and I've liked Campanile's in France. Frankly, if I were the company I'd shut this down - not because its so bad for what you pay but because it would certainly have put me off staying in another if I'd found this one first.

The room was cheap enough and OK, reasonably warm and clean albeit a bit shabby. Arguably a bit better than other people have said. The location is as other reviews have described but that woudn't have worried me too much.

Food in the restaurant was unimpressive - and not that cheap. Noticing that I was the ony one in the restaurant (although others appeared later) I opted for the "specials" on the grounds that they, at least, were likely to be fresh-ish.

The soup was certainly fresh; fresh out of a can. It was woefully under seasoned for my taste, though I accept that's possibly a personal thing.

Fish, chips & mushy peas? Well we're in the North West, so that should be OK, shouldn't it? Well, no. Macdonald's style stringy fries - surely it can't be too hard to cut up potatoes, can it? Fish pre-battered and freshly unfrozen presumably in the batter while it was being fried. Inside the cardboard batter; grey, dry fish with at least some bones to prove that it wasn't entirely artificial. Mushy peas - completely tasteless. And - completely unaccountably - some lettuce (reasonably crisp) and coleslaw (probably the bestthing on the plate. I didn't bother with the pudding.

Two courses - £11.95 : I don't think that's good value.

At least the staff were friendly. Other good points: free wi-fi in the room. That's about it.

I've been looking for a while for a good, reasonably priced hotel in the Warrington area. This wasn't it.

Room Tip: try another hotel.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

To be honest for £35 what do you expect not like your staying in a 5* hotel it's £35 your paying for a night with a roof over ye head so can't really moan hot water bed tele and hair drier what more can you ask for it's value for money if you ask me bit noisy but hey you are in cheap and cheer full all I can say if you want standards like sir Thomas/radison then pay the prices for that luxury it doesn't take a scientist to figure out what your getting for £35 room hot water and tele !!!

“Average . . .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at this 'Hotel' overnight as we were going on holiday the next day flying from L.Pool Airport. Pretty cheap, only £32 for the night however we wouldnt really call it a Hotel, its more like a Motel, a scary gloomy one at that. Our room was fine but smelt of stale smoke and the toilet made a funny noise when flushing. We had dinner in the resturant and that was quite nice, one receptionist seemed to double up as the chef/waitress and the other girl on reception was doing her mates hair in the lounge area (Hairspray hell). Didn't sleep too well either, the pub over the road was sooo loud!

It served a purpose but we wouldnt stay again.

Not in the most welcoming of areas but handy for the town centre (about 10 minute walk) and close to the railway station. By comparison to its French counterparts it's not in the same league. Efficient check-in and given a room on the upper floor. The room was a bit gloomy inside but was clean and tidy. You wouldn't spend your holiday here but as a one or two night stay it suited us (we stayed here to visit relatives in the area.) We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment, instead we used the local pub next door, The Railway, for a reasonably priced meal. One or two other pubs within walking distance. Should we need to, we wouldn't have a problem staying here again.

“Helpfull staff, horrible Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Only stayed 1 night and not at all keen. As i arrived slightly dubious clientelle leaving. Ground floor room felt unsafe and glad had friends in other rooms
Room was clean and bed comfy but felt like i was in a pre Cold War Eastern Bloc estate - Never again
Reception staff were nice enough - Got to feel sorry for them transferred from France to this dump!
