“Can't moan for £35 cheap what'd you expect”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

To be honest for £35 what do you expect not like your staying in a 5* hotel it's £35 your paying for a night with a roof over ye head so can't really moan hot water bed tele and hair drier what more can you ask for it's value for money if you ask me bit noisy but hey you are in cheap and cheer full all I can say if you want standards like sir Thomas/radison then pay the prices for that luxury it doesn't take a scientist to figure out what your getting for £35 room hot water and tele !!!

“Average . . .”

My boyfriend and I stayed at this 'Hotel' overnight as we were going on holiday the next day flying from L.Pool Airport. Pretty cheap, only £32 for the night however we wouldnt really call it a Hotel, its more like a Motel, a scary gloomy one at that. Our room was fine but smelt of stale smoke and the toilet made a funny noise when flushing. We had dinner in the resturant and that was quite nice, one receptionist seemed to double up as the chef/waitress and the other girl on reception was doing her mates hair in the lounge area (Hairspray hell). Didn't sleep too well either, the pub over the road was sooo loud!

It served a purpose but we wouldnt stay again.

Not in the most welcoming of areas but handy for the town centre (about 10 minute walk) and close to the railway station. By comparison to its French counterparts it's not in the same league. Efficient check-in and given a room on the upper floor. The room was a bit gloomy inside but was clean and tidy. You wouldn't spend your holiday here but as a one or two night stay it suited us (we stayed here to visit relatives in the area.) We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment, instead we used the local pub next door, The Railway, for a reasonably priced meal. One or two other pubs within walking distance. Should we need to, we wouldn't have a problem staying here again.

“Helpfull staff, horrible Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Only stayed 1 night and not at all keen. As i arrived slightly dubious clientelle leaving. Ground floor room felt unsafe and glad had friends in other rooms
Room was clean and bed comfy but felt like i was in a pre Cold War Eastern Bloc estate - Never again
Reception staff were nice enough - Got to feel sorry for them transferred from France to this dump!

“Shocking!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

My husband and I stayed at the campanile for a 30th birthday party with a group of friends who had also booked rooms. We didnt expect luxury as we only paid £35, however there was utter disapointment when we pulled into the carpark. The building looked very uninviting and can hardly claim to be a hotel it is most definately a motel, as it just looked like a block of highrise flats.
We all joked about what we had booked and thought the rooms cant be that bad. On check in the girl behind reception clearly didnt want to be there and failed to even force a smile. We signed the check in forms but then realised that the price stated £45 for the night, (I had booked online for £35 per night) when I questioned this I was told I would have to bring it up on checking out with the deputy manager . The girl then informed me I would need to show my confirmation e-mail as the deputy manager would be a......well I am not allowed to write what she called the deputy manager on this review, I was gobsmacked that she would speak of a senior member of staff in that way and infront of a guest!
On entering the room there was a strong smell of damp, and a huge amount of cobwebs! There was mould visible on the bathroom tiles and around the bath and the bath towels could have done with a good wash along with everything else in the room, at least the sheets on the bed appeared to be clean. I was glad to be spending most of the night at our friends party!
The next morning my husband braved the shower, and also got a shower from the ceiling above which was dripping cold water!
On checking out, (which couldnt have come soon enough) I explained to the deputy manager about the cleanliness and the leak in the ceiling and without question she gave us a discount, to be honest I was reluctant to pay at all for our experience!
