“Spacious room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed at the Harefield Manor while attending a wedding there. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Romford train station and town centre.

We were checked in quickly, and despite being pretty early, we were able to access the room straight away.

Our room was in the annexe across the road, which appears to be converted flats. It was at the front of the building which meant it was on a main road. This was fine with us, but light sleepers might want to request a room at the back in case they are disturbed by traffic noise.

The room was very spacious and had a nice bay window. The only drawback was that there were no net curtains - which meant that you had to keep the curtains closed and the light on while dressing even when it was light outside. I did not want passers by getting an eyeful!

The romte control for the TV was handed to us when we checked in and we had to return it. Not sure why. The small TV only had terrestial channels.

The bathroom was decorated to a very high standard.

There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The room was pretty good value for money, and was a great place to crash after a lovely day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you think the traffic noise might disturb you.

“Christmas Day Lunch Disaster!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Never go here for Christmas Lunch, it was an absolute disaster. Went with friends and family, including children, overcrowded, waited over two hours, no food, terrible service, eventually walked out. No way to spend Christmas Day, one of the most important of the year. Appeared to be all about greed, cramming as many people in as possible but unable to cope.

“Christmas Dinner 25th December 2011”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Our party of five had the missfortune to partake of Christmas dinner at the Harefield Manor Hotel. It was a total shambles. We should have sat down for our meal at 2-45pm but the table was not ready until 3-20. We waited twnty mins to see a waiter for drinks another 20mins for drinks, another 20mins to order food and had to order dessert when ordering starters and main. Only two had starters owing to lack of choice. athe main course was served after a long wait on cold plates, the food was barely warm, the vegetables were limited to potatoes carrots and Brusells Sprouts. The sprouts were so undercooked they were raw the new popatoes were also almost raw, the roast potatoes were stale and bruised and Yorkshire pudding inedible, beef was too tough to eat. Service was lacking in quality and very slow. We were deated seven on a table for six. The whole dining area was packed solid so that the waiters were passing food over peoples heads. I have never had a worse experience when dining out. When we were leaving a family who had been waiting for two hours for their table were going home without a meal. Mr Harris should be ashamed of himself for running such a poor establishment. I and my family will not be seen at this place again and we will spread the word to many others.

“Xmas Party 2011 - very poor show”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Let me start by saying I have never felt the need to write a bad review on any web site or trip advisor. However, our Christmas party at the Harefield Manor was an utter disgrace. We were packed in like sardines as can be seen in the photos, fire exits were blocked to pack more people in, on arrival we waited 50 minutes for a drink, hot soup was being passed over people heads as waiters couldn’t get between the aisles, the main meal arrived very late (approx 10pm) and was slopped onto the plate, the desserts didn’t arrive till 10.45pm and only a handful of people were even given them. This was a disgusting display of greed but what I found most concerning is the lack of concern for our safety. As party organiser I was thoroughly embarrassed and will most definitely not be returning despite some compensation being given. On a positive note the DJ and entertainment were good.
