“Made really welcome”

My wife and i stayed here to attend a "leaving do" as it was cheaper than a taxi home. Our expectations were not very high but we were so surprised, the lady on reception who was extremely helpfull changing our room when she saw my wife on crutches, nice and quiet on comfy beds as well.
I felt that the advertising of wifi did not mention the astronomical cost to use the wifi was a let down but other than that it was all round ok.
I have tried to give four dots above but slipped and put five and cant seem to undo it.
I would definately use again.

“Comfortable bed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights whike visiting family. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was basic but adequate for our needs and very clean. The bed was comfortable with 2 pillows each. I was a bit disappointed with the hospitality tray, two teabags and two sachets of coffee is not really enough, luckily I had my own supplies. They also don't supply hot chocolate, you have to buy a sachet.
The bathroom was in need of some updating, a power-shower would be a good start. The sink had a big crack in it and when we reported it to reception we were offered a change of room but we had unpacked by then. The water was piping hot and there is a heated towel rail in the bathroom which is a bonus.
We had continental breakfast at the adjoining restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. My biggest moan here is that children were going up to the buffet table, handling the food and then putting it back when they decided they didn,t want it, I also saw two children coughing and sneeing all over the food which was rather off-putting. i don't really know what can be done about this.
All in all this hotel lived up to my expectations and i would stay here again when visiting my family who live in the area.

“Pleasant staff, awful smelly room.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

You get what you pay for. The reception staff were very amiable indeed and pleasant throughout my stay (2 nights). Premier Inn bed linen is always nice and clean and the TVs always work and there is always plenty of coffee and tea in the room. There is always a chair and a table and plenty of electrical sockets. So I know I can always do some work when I check in. This particular hotel also had a working heater and extractor (a rare treat for both to be working!). There were groups of drunken guests and others hanging around the whole time, but the hotel did go out of their way to try to calm the situations down and quieten the groups of teenagers. This isn't really the hotel's fault, they cannot hand-pick their guests.

The major problem with this visit was the horrendous stench throughout the hotel. I checked in and the reception area was fine. As soon as you enter the corridors, there is a foul stench of blocked drains / excrement. I made my way to room 41 and the corridor was unbearable. When I got in to the room, it was just as bad and I opened the window to breathe some fresh air. The window only opens a few inches, but at least it helped. I then turned on the extractor (by using the bathroom light switch) and turned the heater on full to keep warm (only 3 degrees outside!). After a few minutes, I started to become used to the smell and felt less nauseous. I walked around the hotel to find an another room to move to but all corridors smelled the same, so there was no point. I sprayed deodorant throughout my room and bathroom but it hardly dented the smell. I left the hotel room with the window open and went out for a meal. It worked to a degree, but on the second day the cleaning staff had closed the window and the whole process had to be repeated. The smell in the morning was so bad it woke me up at around 5am and I couldn't get back to sleep. I didn't vomit, but it was a close call. The bathroom smelled so bad I didn't want to stay in there to shower. I drove to the services and had my wash and cleaned my teeth there instead. I couldn't get home quick enough to wash myself and my clothes.

Room Tip: The rooms furthest from reception are also the ones furthest away from the lively pub and smoking ar...

“Good Premier Inn, not the best, but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Premer Inn is located just off the motorway, and only a few short junctions from Manchester. Just beware if you planning on going into Manchester during rush hour the journey will take considerable longer than might be expected, 15 mins at night, over an hour the next morning. Location is not in the scenic setting that I assumed from the pictures but is quiet at least.

Hotel is one of the older style premier inns, with actual keys not key cards. However the rooms and decor standards are acceptable. Usual premier inn gripes, no fridges in rooms and showever the usual style that bearly represents a drip.

Beds good standard, large and high and usual premier inn comfort.

Room is large enough for everything to fit and for toddler to have a little play.

Staff at recpetion were pleasant and frienldy.

Restaurant next door is table table. eat there for eve meal and breakfast, both good quality and service. Breakfast is proper waitress service style for the cooked breakfast at least, which is always nicer.

Overall good quality PI, older style, with decent restaurant for group, otherwise average for brand. Think carefully about location.
