“Oddball; good, friendly, only slightly plush. Location?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

This is a good hotel at the right price in the wrong place. 99% of people needing a stopover at Bristol Airport - poor souls - will default to the Holiday Inn 5 mins down the hill.Alternatively there are B&B's far closer to the airport (and far cheaper). Anyone wanting a base to visit Bristol or tour Somerset would probably not come with half an hour of this location

"Eclectic" does not even begin to describe it. Well-appointed, excellent food, attentive and friendly staff, scrupulously clean, and insanely overpriced for this part of the world. You would need to delibefately choose to come here - as we did - because you will not check in here by accident.

On average, I only might stay here again. We enjoyed it, but somehow it just feels too "wrong" and I can't say it ever felt truly comfortable - more of an "experience"

“Perfect for our requirements”

Like many people who stay here, it was convenience that brought us, my flight having landed in Bristol too late for the onward road journey we had planned. We were not desperate enough to accept the Holiday Inn, officially recommended by the airport, but the kind desk girl told us about the Plush Hotel. A phone call secured a room and dinner even though it was nine p.m. The GPS located the place easily and we were welcomed by a friendly Polish receptionist. We went straight in to dinner, and were offered a complimentary drink. I ordered salmon, and asked for it to be very lightly cooked. Wife asked who did the cooking, and was told it was also a Pole, so she chose the goulash of course!

The salmon was OK but overcooked for my taste. All the rest was fine and the service friendly and quick. After the meal, when prompted, I mentioned that the salmon was hardly lightly cooked, and the receptionist/waitress apologised and asked me if I would like something else to compensate, or a discount on the price. I declined either of course, because it was all done so nicely!

The room was perfectly comfortable, large and surprisingly quiet for being on the main road. When I switched on the bathroom light, it was accompanied by the very loud and relentless noise of the fan, which I hate with a vengeance. I pulled a red cord on the ceiling which looked as though it would turn off the fan, but alas, it set off the alarm, which I was unable to stop. A call to reception brought a nice man a minute later, who solved the problem (but not the fan noise!). The bathroom was fine, but as someone else pointed out, the shower has no protection, and so everything, including the loo, gets soaked.

Breakfast the next morning was OK but unexciting - nothing cooked. It may have been on request, but I didn't ask. Waitress and reception were represented by the other Polish girl, the one who does the cooking, and she asked how her goulash went down. All in all, these Polish girls were delightful, attentive and friendly - no wonder the hotel employs them.

We noticed a luxurious-looking covered swimming pool on the way to the (free) car park, and regretted that we were not in a situation to enjoy the other amenities the hotel had to offer. The sign at the entrance to the property boasts that it is "a fabulous place to stay". Well, we had a perfectly good time, and if ever were stuck around Bristol airport again, wouldn't hesitate to return. But for all that, I don't think I'd book my holidays there...

“Free drink on arrival nice touch”

We stayed here on Saturday night, we didn't really get to enjoy the hotel as we arrived late and left early however, we where offered a complimentary drink on arrival, it was a lovely spacious room, we slept brilliantly which says a lot and the breakfast was good. A little cold but there was only one lady on her own serving and cooking.
The room was very clean.
It felt more like a nice B&B than a hotel, and the bathroom altough it had a wet room was badly designed had no shelving for storage and the toilet was next to the shower so got soaking after a shower.
I think it looks like it will get better in time, it seems relativly new and I'm sure over time with more guest and more money they will invest in the little things but if it is starting out then I was perfectly happy with it and much nicer than a holiday inn.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your valuable feedback. With regards to the wet rooms, only 2 of our rooms have them, and we are considering changing them into closed off showers in the near future.
We hope to welcome you back in the future.

“Lovely, stylish and comfortable”

We only stayed here as a prelude to an early morning flight from Bristol, but we loved it. The atmosphere is that of a quality modern country house, with friendly and efficient service to match. It was so good, we did wonder if perhaps we could move in permanently! Lots of extras which make you feel special. A large bedroom, fab bathroom, didn't have time to try the pool, but it looked good, and although the A38 is adjacent, no road noise. We felt as if we were in the country. Dinner was good, and as we were leaving very early for the airport, they packed us a breakfast.

I have to agree with the review by Kreely, it doesn't feel like a slickly run hotel rather a high quality B&B. We didn't experience the evening dining as we were attending a wedding, but the breakfast was fine and of reasonable quality. Overall our room (no.2) was clean, everything worked well, (including the wifi and TV), the ensuite was nicely appointed and we had no issues for the money we paid which was not much different from the well know budget chain hotel down the road.
