My company booked (& paid in advance, non refundable) for 2 weeks stay in Deincourt Best Western
I would never stay in this hotel again, and my company has now blacklisted this hotel from future bookings.
In November 2011 I stayed in room 1, and in January 2012 in room #14
November:
- Room 1 is next to a shared guest bathroom & toilet. There is constant noise from creaky floorboards, door & flushing loo – both staff and guests appear to use this facility both day and night.
- The front door to the hotel is locked at 10pm every night. If you return later than this after a night out, you have to buzz and stand in the cold (there is a door key card reader but it doesn't appear to be working).
- Single glazed windows were draughty and let in traffic noise which disturbed my sleep
- Terrible food (breakfast), micro waved / dried-up – I only had breakfast once all week despite the inclusive tariff
- There is supposed to be free internet in every room but the only place in the entire hotel wireless access appears to work is in main reception.
January:
- Room 14 had terrible mould all over bathroom - see attached pics - unsightly and possibly a health hazard
- Single glazed windows were draughty and let in traffic noise which disturbed my sleep (much worse than room 1 – take ear plugs unless you are a heavy sleeper)
- Heating seems to come and go at random. The radiator was cold at times despite being on full setting.
- Water temperature/pressure in shower not constant. I was in shower one day when suddenly temperature/pressure changed, pouring scalding hot water over me.
- 7.30am wakeup call requested upon check-in. On the first morning I was woken up at 6.30, the second day the call came at 8.30. Both days I made staff aware of the error. From the 3rd day, however, the wake up call was at correct time.
- Terrible food (breakfast), micro waved / dried-up - I only had breakfast on my last day, due to previous experience. I sat down at an empty table and 15 minutes later, I had still not been served. Knocking on the kitchen door, I saw waitress and ‘chef’ (same lad is part time receptionist, barman, night porter and chef) and were sitting around in kitchen gossiping.
- Free internet only appears to work in main reception but is supposed to work in all guests rooms.
- Reception is almost never manned, with shutters down & lights out – I couldn't check out on Friday morning as nobody was on at 8:30 so left my room key card with the waitress.
