I booked a room here with my girlfriend for 2 nights, service was really bad, even though we were there on time, the manager made us wait 20 minutes for the room to be cleaned!! As soon as we got to the room, SHOWER was COLD, TV was not working and smelled of fags! We also had dinner at the hotel, my partner had become sick the very next day! Its a waste of money, very bad customer service. Overall APPALLING!!

I have never written a review for a hotel before, but having stayed here I felt compelled to. I regularly stay in a variety of hotels when staying away for work around the uk. But my experience at the Rossmore was by far the worst.
On first impressions it didn't appear too bad, parking was available in the car park right in front of the hotel and the lady receptionist was friendly, however when I was directed to my room located virtually in the lobby things deteriorated. The room was small but enough for one person, but wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the sound on the tv was broken, it was furnished with a plastic garden chair?! and the shower room was cramped to say the least. When I visited the bar to use the wifi, I would have bought a drink had there been any staff, even though it appeared there were only cans of beer on offer. The wifi itself was available through either the free hotel connection or bt fon, the hotels connection didn't work, and the bt connection was so slow it timed out before I could even try entering my details. In the end I visited the local wetherspoons to get a drink and some decent wifi. on return to the hotel I had just gone to bed when the fire alarm was set off by staff preparing themselves a snack in the kitchen, thankfully this stopped within a few minutes. Unfortunately this was not the end of my nights disruption, -you might have thought that having an occupied room so close to the reception that staff would try to keep noise to a minimum; you'd be wrong. From 11:00 pm until falling asleep at midnight I could hear staff stomping around and having conversations in the reception. I was then woken again at 2am by the staff talking to an apparently drunk gentleman in a foreign language for at least 30 minutes until I could fall asleep again. This repeated throughout the early morning as other guests checked out before myself.
So, If you do decide to stay here perhaps bring earplugs if you're lucky enough to be given room 40, and try the local pub if you want a drink and some wifi.

“Terrifying!!!!”

If you want to book here I'd say don't!!
We booked a familyroom last weekend. (2adults & my 3year old daughter).
Lets start with the room...
Above each bed there were water stains on the ceiling.
The curtains, yuck, come on, they were yellow en the smell I can't begin to describe. I'm sure they haven't been washed in decades!
The bathroom floor was tiled, but the room itself is carpet, you'd think they'd put the tiles the same height as the carpet, but no, make it just a little higher, so when you need the loo you crack your toes (and yes, we all did!).
The toilets... hmmmm, not what I'd call clean at all. Also no water pressure, so I don't think everything would flush away... There is an air vent, but if you turn it on you wake up everyone in the hotel.. I think they urgently need cleaning!!
The shower looked ok, but thruthfully, seeing the state of the room, we didn't dare use it.
Also all you got was 1 tiny little soap. No shower gell or shampoo...???
Apart from that there was terrible shouting & fighting & banging of doors going on.
1 room was in the hall was used for staff, well, as 1 point I saw a one of them in just underwear (a male), later same guy just with a bath towel wrapped around his waist.. I mean, come on, we had a 3 year old child with us!!!!
After all that, we didn't sleep a wink!
Looking forward to a nice breakfast, hoping that would make us forget all about the other things..
Well, I'm sure if I tell you my little girl was sick & threw up when we got home, that's all that needs explaining.
What happened to hotel ratings? Surely someone should check it out & shut it down!

“An absolute dump”

We went to England for a wedding and needed somewhere close by to stay for one night. Two rooms, one for my husband and myself and a second room for our daughter, her husband and 3 year old daughter. I had stayed there once before in 1973 when I got married and it was a nice hotel, how things change!!
The hotel smelt of cigarette smoke.
Some staff spoke good English, others were very difficult to understand.
My daughters room had a filthy lamp, the bathroom extractor fan was so noisy she didn't like to use it. Damp patches on the ceiling which had two different kinds of wallpaper.
No shampoo or shower gel, just one tiny bar of soap.
No hair drier in the room, but I asked for one in reception, only to discover the wire wasn't long enough to get to the mirror in the bathroom, have you ever tried to style your hair with no mirror??
In our room there was a terrible smell coming from the sink, obviously the U bend needed cleaning out. No pressure on the water, so the toilet didn't flush properly.
Net curtains filthy and smelt, also torn and with cigarette burns.
My daughter returned early from the wedding with her young daughter, and was terrified as there was a lot of shouting and slamming of doors.
We returned around 1130 pm, there was a girl, I can only presume a staff member, sitting on the stairs. We had to climb over her, she didn't move, but did say sorry.
We hadn't been in the room long when door banging started. I don't know what was going on, but we propped a chair under the handle of the door, to be sure we didn't get any intruders. We didn't get much sleep, each time I started to drop off, so the door banging would start again.
Also in our room, the bed was up against the heating, so I don't know what happens when the heating has to be turned on when it gets cold, I can only presume that the sheets get scorched!!!!!
I did ask in reception the next morning what was happening, and the receptionist said he would mention it to the staff. I can only presume that staff sleep there, and they were the causing the disturbance, but I don't know about that.
The hotel advertises the best breakfast in town, well, I would hate to taste the worst. The lady in the breakfast room was very difficult to understand, in fact she spoke to us and then we all asked each other what she had said. There was something about the plates being hot, but they were actually cold. The breakfast was in those keep warm containers, but obviously they didn't work properly either, the breakfast was almost cold. There were also tinned mushrooms floating in sop, and tinned tomatoes. I had two bites of my breakfast, left the rest, nibbled on the cold toast, and was thoroughly fed up, at the expense of staying at this dump, there are no other words for it, it has been totally let go.
I think it has become a hotel for down and outs as when we arrived there was also so problem, the chamber maids were trying to get some one out of their room. he stood in the hall in his underpants, and then went back in the room, and the girls kept knocking and telling him it was time to leave, they were obviously having problems with him, and is was scary to know there were people like that in the hotel.
I can only say I will never go there again, and wouldn't stay there even if I was paid to do so.
