We stayed at the Woodlands Hotel in one of the larger rooms with an en-suite bathroom, they do smaller rooms with seperate bathroom facilities but I liked having my own bathroom. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay and the amount we paid to stay there. The room was very clean and well maintained, with tea and coffee making facilities, We were informed that the Hotel is now under new management and that new tv's had just been installed in every room, We enjoyed taking full advantage of this new facility before going downstairs to the carribbean restaurant where we had booked a table for an evening meal.
The restaurant was buzzing with people but had a very laid back vibe about it, there was reggae music playing in the background and colourful canvasses adorning the walls which gave the place a real 'carribbean' feel. The food I have to say was fantastic, my partner is a vegetarian and we usuallly struggle to find somewhere that has a good choice for both of us, but he was more than happy with the menu and opted for the vegetarian curry. We both said that it was definitely somehwhere we'll be visting again.
We then moved on to the bar upstairs (underneath the hotel) where we both enjoyed a couple of pints and later retired to our room. The bar was quite busy but we still managed to have a good nights sleep, in the morning we had breakfast which consisted of croissants, pain au chocolat, cereals, toast coffee and juice. For the money we paid we couldn't have asked for better value. Our room cost £45 and we were told that the cheaper rooms were £25 pounds a night. We'd definitely recommend the Woodlands to other travellers, and we'll be staying there again when we re-visit the area soon.
