I'm on a business trip w/ colleagues and customers and actually my customer booked this hotel. It's decent for a small suburb of Amsterdam. My room is on the 2nd floor, with two twin sized beds joined together. I'm using one for some of my stuff and the other to sleep on. Everything is relative small compared to similar type of hotels in the States, but I'm thinking not so out of whack for NL and Europe in general.
It's very spartan... no pictures on walls in the hallway nor in the room. The bathroom was relatively big considering the size of the room. The shower was typical European with a hand wand that could be placed high or low... and the best part of the water pressure allowed for an invigorating spray... great for sore, achy muscles.
The major downside is the 17 or perhaps 19" circa 1985 television set they had in my room. I can handle the size and picture quality, but one night, I couldn't turn it off to save my life! I tried the remote numerous times, nothing. I tried the power button on the TV numerous times, nothing. I tried to unplug the cord, but the plug was covered. I almost wanted to cut the power cord! Very little sleep that night.
The service in the morning during breakfast has been good... much better than other restaurants in the city.
The best thing is the proximity to transportation. The hotel is within 150 yards of the train station. The bus stop is right next door, and there's a taxi stand near by. This allows amble access to different transportation modes immediately outside the hotel. In fact, you can rent a bike for 7.50 EU (w/ a 50 EU deposit) per day, at the bike shop, 50 feet from the train station.
