“Great hotel, renovated and good value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel in December 2011 and yet again in December 2011. We booked a family room (2 adults, 2 small children) for one night (Saturday) and we were not disappointed. Both times we booked a family room for under 90 Euro per night (incl. breakfast). The hotel is situated along the Veluwemeer (Lake) and has recently been renovated. Good value for money. Friendly staff when we checked in and check out and the breakfast offered was fresh and diverse. We have no problem in recommending this hotel to people, including families!

“Efficient hotel, in nice setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2008

This was my second trip to the hotel. The setting is beautiful; right on the edge of the lake. Location is good, in that, you are close to the motorway. The downside is, that if you want to go to a restauarant or a pub, excluding the hotel, then you will need a car, since it is some way off the nearest town.

The rooms are clean, but nothing fancy. A good hotel for business, if you are travelling or as an overnight stop with beautiful views of the lake.

“Wonderful welcome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2008

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights last weekend and had a lovely time.

We travel a lot, and over the years have stayed in very many hotels, from 5 star places, to hostels, and everything in between, but never have we come across such fantastic staff as they have here!

From the moment we walked in the door till we left everyone from the receptionist to the chambermaid and waiting staff treated us like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had room number 36 which had a great view over the lake and was spotlessly clean. Plenty of towels and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was large with a table and chairs with a door leading to a nice litle terrace.

The hotel also has a very good sauna and steam room which I used a couple of times.

I booked this three night break through the hotels website a few months in advance, and got a fantastic deal which included breakfast. It was a summer promotion and was terrific value for money.

There's a round trip boat that goes from the harbour right next to the hotel (5 euros for an hour) which we enjoyed a lot as my husband is into bird watching and you can see many rare species. We also had bikes with us and made a few nice trips in this beautiful area. I don't write many reviews, but I was so impressed with the staff here that I felt I just had to comment. There are a lot of Hiltons, Marriots and Sheratons that could learn a thing or two about customer service from the Mercure Veluwemeer!

Anyway to sum up, I would say if you are looking for a short break you really couldn't do much better than this place. Well done, and thankyou!

Oh, just one suggestion, my husband would have liked to see smoked salmon on the breakfast buffet (or some other fish like herring or kippers) but otherwise there was a very good selection available.

“Just ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2008

I stayed last week in Mercure Amersfoort. They say it is a 4 star hotel, but the rooms are not worth more than 2-3 stars. Both the room and bathroom are small, basic and simple. It is clean however.

The location is great. Easy acces to the highway, and great waterview on the Veluwemeer.

Overall I would not recommend to stay in this hotel because the price - quality ratio with rates > 100 euro for a double bedroom is pretty bad. Only for those who loves watersport / windsurf it must be the best place to be.

“Nice hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2008

This is a good hotel.

Location is perfect if you're driving through the Netherlands going somewhere else or want to stay near one of the big cities without being right in them. Right next to the motorway - but you don't hear it at all.

Putten railway station is 10 minutes drive with a big enough car park if you want to head into Amsterdam or elsewhere. Hotel staff were very helpful making sure we knew where to go.

The marina and river are lovely with a nice beach for kids and it's a nice area to walk around - although quite a lot of bugs around (screens for windows in bedrooms to keep them out!). Peace and quiet.

Rooms are fine - nothing outstanding but the price is reasonable. Restaurant is pretty good with a good selection, including a reasonable childrens menu. I wouldn't want to eat here every night for a week, but for a day or two it's OK. Nice bar overlooking the river which makes for a pleasant evening.

A really convenient hotel that does the job we wanted in a much better location than we thought was possible.
