Where do i start with this hotel?
we went as a large group of people of sightseeing in Barcelona about 40 of us. When we arrived at the very outdated hotel we were disgusted that we could not find our rooms , after about an hour of trying to get through to the receptionist (which is not good as you have 40 very tired children who have been travelling all day waiting!) we got directed to a door behind the hotel bar which lead to a passage way where we finally found our rooms. The walls were paper thin and we could hear the noise from a very loud party going on in the bar! The food was litterally appualing , there was very little choice and after staying there for a week there was the same every night which was disapointing for us and most nights some of the children went without eating! There was also a small range of puddings the same thing every night basically!
There was no lifeguard at the pool meaning with such a large group of people we couldn't go in and the Gym was obismal e.g a non electric running machine! .. The only upside to this hotel was it was very close to a wonderfull beach and a range of good shops.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone , but i would reccomend the lovely resort of Blanes and close by Tossa.

We (Spanish young couple + 4-year-old child) stayed just one night at this terrible hotel, and then moved to another hotel (Blaumar Hotel, a very good hotel!), even we had to spend some extra money.
I don't know what was the worse thing at Esplendid, so I'll make a list:
- Paper-thin walls, single-glass windows
- Little rooms, awful decoration.
- The entire hotel needs a renovation (it's like getting back to the 80's) Curtains and carpets are torn, rusty cranes, noistyairco...
- Food is just terrible, lacks variety and quality.
- Because the Arab owner (no problem with that!) you can't get pork meat or alcohol at this hotel (I do have a problem with that!)
- Huge hotel, lot of rooms: the entire thing is just crowded.

No complains about the friendly staff. They were very understanding when we said we wanted to leave a.s.a.p.

I booked this hotel for 16.07.05 - 26.07.05 and literally "escaped" after the 3rd day. Here are the reasons:

1. Very very undirty rooms; the housekeeping does not use any proper cleaning attributes.
2. Bad smell in the rooms, I have changed two rooms.
3. If you can sleep for 4 hours in a day you are very very lucky. This not because of the noise on the street, but from bouncing beds on the marmer floor and terribly hard closing doors in the midnights.
4. Very poor breakfast, lunch and dinners.
5. Very bad fitness center.

My travel agency D-Reizen, Almere, Netherlands misinformed me.

Think twice and do not even think to try this hotel.
