“It does what it says on the tin”

What a pleasant surprise. We booked a cheap holiday and didn't know what to expect. It was great. We stayed in the Europa Apartments which were just what we needed. Close to the beach and other ammenities and a short walk to the old town. No frills just good clean accomodation. The apartments are a good size with a nice balcony and adequately equipped. Check in and out very easy with friendly staff. Be aware of the 50 euro deposit required on arrival but returned with no fuss at the end of stay. The pool area is clean and well maintained and even in October we managed a couple of swims. Blanes is very quiet at the end of October and alot of the tourist restaurants/bars were shut but this suited us and we had a fab time. I'm not sure I would visit in the hieght of summer but I will visit again and I will stay at the Europa Apartments again.

“really disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

we booked these apartments after reading the reviews as we thought it cannot be that bad.It was!! dont think the apartment had been cleaned from previous guests....we even had extra guests...FLEAS.Both of us were bitten to death the first day we were there and the hotel staff looked at us as tho we were stupid when we told them. The apartments do allow pets and had obviously left some little friends behind. We only had clean towels the day before we left and the beds were not changed at all.Take your own toilet rolls as we were given half a roll then nothing else. The floor was covered in black rolls of dirt/grease that looked like marbles and stuck to your feet.We had to boil all the plates and cutlery before we could use them as they were coated in dried food. The noise was unbearable and went on till about 4am.Should really be an 18-30s destination
We usually go on last minute cheaper holidays and as they say you get what you pay for. This was not that cheap and we were not impressed,we have had better apartments for a lot less money.

Vist KDs for great breakfast and a laugh with Richard

“Great Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

This is my 3rd stay here in various blocks and have always been pleased with the rooms
I like the fact there is no maid service you never get disturbed ex to change the towels once a week. Take a tea towel as we have never been sup with one. The old town and the water front walks are lovely. The end near the camp sites are shabby and mostly empty .Stadium Bar next door is very friendly and Paco makes you very welcome.

“Not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

Check in is 1pm and not 12:59. I asked for a high floor and got the top floor (4th) in Block D. 50 euros deposit. I had so much trouble with the ancient lift I no longer trusted it and walked up and down stairs.

Spacious apartment and balcony. 2 large single beds and 2 sofa beds. 4 extra blankets if needed. Microwave, large fridge, 4 rings, but 2 were gas, no longer working. Cutlery, plates etc for 4 as well as pots and pan. Lots of power points. 2 wardrobes. TV with BBC World News (worst TV station ever), Eurosport and a few foreign channels. No airconditioning. Take out your own rubbish and spend maybe 1 euro a week on buying toilet rolls.

Lots of supermarkets, shops, eateries, bars, etc close by. Turn right, beach several minutes walk away (pass internet cafe, 1 euro an hour plus telephones). Turn left, bus station is a few minutes walk away. Number of discos very close so could be very noisy in summer. Plenty of parking closeby.

“Extremely clean, functional apartments & very helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

I travelled with my daughter, with some trepidation (holiday booked when very much intoxicated) but by the end was very pleased with the choice.
We arrived at 2am, after a 1.5 hr transfer, paid a 50e deposit to the receptionist and made our way to our GF room. The room was very clean and supplied with new(ish) refrigerator, toaster & microwave although no kettle! No problem, we used the small pan quite adequately. The beds were comfortable and supplied with extra pillows & blankets.
Although much of the next 5 days were cold & cloudy with one horrendous rain storm with water flowing down the road outside our room 12-14" deep, quite spectacular, even funny after lashings of vodka, we managed to keep ourselves cheerful. We went to Lloret twice at night by bus, 20e return by taxi, but it was also relatively quiet being late in the season. The bus station is 300yds from the apartments with a single ticket to Lloret being 2.5e and return 3.5e, last bus leaving Lloret 10.15pm out of season. You buy your tickets in the office & the staff have a fair unstanding of English and are helpful.
The weather changed for the better and we had the next 6 days on a truly wonderful quiet Blanes beach located approximately 600yds from the apartment or around the Europa pool. An ample quantity of sunbeds were available FOC around the large pool. I wasn't brave enough to venture into the pool but I'm reliably informed that it was extremely invigorating!
The holiday was extended by 4 days due to the National Spanish strike on the 29th however, with a bit of ‘surfing’ and calls to the UK we managed to extend our stay in the apartments and re-book the flight home. It turned out to be an expensive extension, however this was offset by the wonderful weather 22-25degrees.
We met many friendly people which culminated in being ‘broken’ one night by the Nottingham girls, Clare & Lacey!
In summation, the apartments were very clean and functional, for the price; we generally hire a villa or travel 5* to Egypt and I’d have no hesitation in recommending the apartments to friends or in fact returning.
We spent many nights in the Irish (sports) bar 300yds away which is well served by Andy (owner) and Leon and can recommend the food which is served hot and appetising, particularly the breakfasts. I spent many afternoons watching the various sporting events, drinking copious amounts of ‘amber’ water and putting the worlds to rights.
The reception & bar staff were very friendly and helpful. We'd didn't spend much time at the attached bar/basic restaurant but on the couple of afternoons it was used found it to be clean, not so cheap but cheerful.
If I were to return to Blanes it would be either the 1st or 2nd week of September for the more reliable weather & I’d probably hire a car to make venturing and transfers a little easier.
