“Nice pools and beach, but would rather stay in Cambrils”

We stayed in the hotel part and it was a long way from luxury but we weren't really too bothered about that. We just found that it was boring. PEP is a long walk from Cambrils, which is a lovely bustling town. There are no shops, bars or restaurants anywhere near the hotel and the man-made beach had very little going on. We stayed B&B and breakfast was good although there were always wasps in the garden. We had the buffet dinner one night, which was okay but expensive at 25 euros each. We also ate in the grill upstairs which was very, very nice but expensive. We walked into Cambrils and ate there most nights but we got fed up of the walk in the end. We love great French food and wine, and we visited several recommended restaurants in Cambrils, but they were so expensive! I know Cambrils is more upmarket than Salou but it ain't Paris! (We went to Salou for a day but thought it was well rough and couldn't wait to get out of the place.) The only place to get a late drink at PEP is the beach bar as the hotel bar closed really early. So you walk back from Cambrils and all you have for entertainment is a little windy beach bar with two or three people in it. It depends what you're after, I guess, but for us, it was just too far out the way of things to really have a good time.

“Great family holiday!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

We spent 8 nights in atrium bungalows. Hotel had booked us three neigbouring atria, which was great!
We arrived at night and the night guards drove us from reception to our bungalows. Great service even though they spoke only spanish and german, luckily I speak a little bit german.
Pools were fabulous! On average the children (aged 4, 5 and 6) spent 4-6 hours in the pool. We used both pools and they both had their good sides.
Boutique on the premises is great as well as the supermarket. Prices are a bit high, but they are so close tha we used both of these quite a lot.
We also rented bikes for the whole group and biked all the way up to Salou. That was one of the best days during the whole trip.
We ate at the hotel a couple of times and the food was ok. Nothing special, but ok.
I have nothing really negatice to say. There were ants in our bungalow, but we kept the surfaces and floors clean and had no problems. Some of the staff did not speak english, but for us that was not an issue. Being Finns, we are accustomed to not getting sercice in our native language and we've found that a language barrier is easily crossed.

I highly recommed this hotel!

“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

Just got back from & want to go back to
We stayed in a Villa not actually the Hotel as we are a large family .Cant Praise the staff enough they were really helpful and very accommodating as we have an autistic son and we had phoned ahead and asked to be near the facilities & as were getting there really late at night .
The Villa was large , very well equipped & clean and 2 minutes away from all the facilities.
The park was also very clean, staff were very freindly & helpful.
though as in all holiday parks the shop on site is dear , we found a local supermarket 10 minutes drive ( Mercadona) and brought shopping which was really cheap as we were on a budget but to be honest the food on the complex served at the bar by the pool was really good value as it was Delicious !!

“Loved it but you pay for everything!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

Just returned from 5 nights at Pep. All in all had a fantastic time. The grounds of the complex and all common areas are kept pristine and beautiful. The beachfront location is idyllic. Its a good 20-30 minute walk into town though (when you have a slow walking 6 year old with you) and I have to say by the second night our kids found this hard to cope with so we hired out bicycles from Pep which were reasonable priced and from then on in had an excellent time and cycled along the beachfront into Cambrils and Salou each night.
The swimming pools at this hotel are amazing with all sorts of hidden wonders of jacuzzis, water features and the likes. Kids loved them. There is also a lifeguard on duty so safe for the kids. We didn't use the spa because we had beautiful weather.
My main gripe with the place was the accomodation. We stayed in an Atrium bungalow having picked this for its proximity to the pool however we were put in no.81 which is the furthest of the bungalows away from the pool. The accomodation is very basic and in need of modernisation. The cleaning of the bungalow really lets the place down. Although the inside of the bungalow was clean upon arrival, the patio/courtyard area was very dirty and I had to brush it before using it. I brushed up 4 scoopfills of dirt and dust. No cleaners visited during our 5 night stay and no clean bedlinen or towels are provided unless you pay extra for them. I thought this was ridiculous given the price paid initially. The bathroom is also not near the bedrooms but rather through the sitting area which was a bit weird, with the kitchen having been positioned beside the bedrooms. There are only single beds. There is no air con but the fans in the bedrooms are very good. A ceiling fan should be fitted in the living area and perhaps more comfortable chairs in the living area or at least a chair each. We had only one small uncomfortable 2 seater and an armchair for 4 guests. Although the kitchen was generally well equipped we had no kettle, no plates and no drying cloths for dishes. We had a major problem with ants inside the bungalow. On a whole though the bungalow is spacious and very safe for the children and it was lovely to have our own courtyard (when cleaned!). Ultimately, if the cleaning standards were improved and fresh bedlinen/towels provided to guests without further charge it would be excellent.
My other problem was with the language barrier. Pep seems to cater more for the Dutch/German/French guest and English was certainly not widely spoken. We had great difficulty ordering lunch and found the waiting staff and the pool lifeguards to have no grasp of what we were saying nor indeed any patience for us and in fact they bordered on being rude to us. The reception, information desk staff and the chef spoke English though and were very friendly and helpful.
Food: We had originally booked for half board however found that dinner was quite late which rendered us unable to go anywhere at night so thankfully the lady at reception very kindly allowed us to change to B&B and refunded the dinner price. The food here is very pricey with dinner being 25 euro each. Dinner included red wine but none of us drink red wine and it couldn't be changed to white. Breakfast however was gorgeous with crepes omelettes and english breakfast cooked to order in front of you by an excellent and friendly chef - yum yum! Everything you could ever want for provided at beakfast however not very friendly table staff.
My daughter did horesriding which cost 20 euro per hour and thouroughly enjoyed it.
The accomodation cost me 624 euros for 5 nights b&b (& 1 dinner). I had been getting offers of other 5 star hotels with excellent leisure facilities and spa around Salou, with daily cleaning and on an all inclusive basis for little over 300 euros but chose this place because of all the activities it advertised. Unfortunately though everything advertised incurred an extra charge once you got there and thus I felt rather ripped off by this and would rate this as a very expensive holiday indeed.
All said there is no denying that it is a lovely place.

“A great hotel...great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

We just got back from our trip to Spain and wanted to make sure I put that we had a great time at the Pueblo Eldorado Playa and would highly recommend....especially if you have kids!

We had a bungalow (we were offered an upgrade to a villa but it we wanted to be closer to the pools). The bungalow was very clean. We did have a little problem with ants every morning but nothing major. The room did look like it had some water damage that needed to be repaired. However the beds were comfortable and it was clean! It was great to have a full kitchen and they even had all the utensils, plates, pans, etc. I was a little concerned about the noise since there was no air and we had to have the windows open but we never heard any of our neighbors!

The kids (10 & 11) loved the pools! As we were there still early there wasn't a big crowd so finding loungers was easy.

The staff was nice. There was one lady at the information desk who wasn't very helpful, but the other lady went out of her way to help! It was especially nice as we didn't speak a lot of Spanish that she was able to help navigate.

My son and I took windsurfing lessons and had a great time! Matthew was very helpful and patient with us!

We didn't eat but 1x at the facility and we did the buffet....we were worried that it was a little pricey (25 euro for adult), but it included wine and the selection was varied! It was a great way to try some different dishes. My husband loved the seafood!

I did use the spa for a message and manicure and was not that impressed with the facility - as compared to what I have experienced in the US.....the prices were very reasonable though.

The hotel itself is located a 20 min walk from Cambrils on a beautiful ocean boardwalk. We walked into town for dinner most nights.

All in all a great vacation!
