“Beautiful place for family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2007

We stayed here for 6 days. lt was low season, and there was a mixture of old age french people and familys with children.
There are 3 buldings, and the pool its on the center, with a garden around the pool.
There was a ramp and a elevator to acces the apartment. Some of the balconys have view to the swiming pool and others to the street. The streets around the hotel are quiet, so it is posible to rest perfectly at night.
Parking the car is easy on low season because the blue parking area finish the 31 of september.
The flats are cleaned each day, they have A/A and heat pump, and a standard decoration.

The food it is quite good. Dont expect a kings buffet, but there was different salads, paella, fideua, hamburguer, saucises, chicken, fish, pasta, pizza, omelette, chips, a soup... (not everything all days....)
The dessert area has allways a pie and fresh asorted fruit, yoghourt, custard, ice cream, etc.

We had to pay for drinks at dinner and supper, and the water or beer cost 1,70 euros and the cheapest wine 8 euros.
The cafeteria area was nice, with billiards, childs games, cheap prices, and animation each night until aprox 23:00.
There are 2 different playing areas for small childs, and one free area in the cafeteria. And there is free activities for children (dancing, painting, games...) This hotel it is a nice place to go with young children.
The beach it is 150 meter away from the hotel, so it is only a small walk and you are in a big beautiful beach. And we were able to swim on the sea at the beginning of october...!

In short words, we liked this hotel, it is ideal to come with children, and good quality for the price that cost us in low season.

“Only young families need apply!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2007

We booked this aparthotel as something of a unknown quantity. We knew we wanted to stay in Cambrils port area not down at Vilafortuny (an extension of Salou really) and this was about the only aparthotel available here. Little seemed to have been written on Tripadvisor, about the hotel when we booked it but we liked the idea it would be more orientated towards the Spanish holidaymaker, as we were learning to speak the language.

The hotel certainly lived upto to our expectation, with 95% if the clientele being Spanish young families with the remaining 5% other (bewildered) Europeans. Knowing some Spanish helped us to get by but others seemed to be having a good time. The hotel appeared to have been build as a couple of apartment blocks then converted to a hotel. On a positive note, the apartment where modern and spacious but the main restuarant was located in the basement in what would appeared to have been the garage of the main block. Although it was nicely decorated, having little natural light made the dining experience feel very remote and canteen like.

The hotel has a good location considering its so recently built but its 'in town' location meant that parking was difficult and/or metered. The hotel offered underground parking under the other building at 12 euros per night! The best solution was to park over the railway about 5 minutes walk away.

Also, we asked for a cot in our booking and where told by the agent that this would be payable locally. They charged 7 euros per night, if we had stayed longer than 1 week, it might have been cheaper to buy a travel cot locally.

The entertainment which was provide was of course only in Spanish and very family orientated. It seemed that every family had a couple of young children so most wanted to have them entertained whilst the parents watched close by. But each night, the entertainment lasted until midnight but our room was located just above the outdoor stage, the balcony being like our own box but it was difficult getting an early night.

All in all, a nice modern hotel for Spanish speaking families with young children but maybe not for any other groups.

“Great Spanish Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2007

We had read previous reviews and we were aprehensive about food and language barriers.

Receptionists were very friendly and spoke limited English but this made it all the more fun and enjoyable because we had to practise our limited Spanish.
The rooms were very spacious with a living area, fridge, cooking rings, seperate bathroom and bedroom.Maid service was daily and quite thorough.

The food was very good and being an English family of 11 with very mixed taste in foods ,we found something for every one.
The meals were Spanish orientated but even a very British 18yr old foodie found something to his taste.

The are is quieter than Salou and the harbour is very scenic.
It is surrounded by several seafood restaurants and some up market shops.

If you want the hectic pace of Salou the buses are frequent from the sea-front and take about 10 -15 mins to get to the night life.

Barcelona is a daily bus trip for about 20 euros return.

A great place for a quiet family holiday but close enough to Salou's more hectic pace if you feel like a trip there.

“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

Before going to the Olimar II we did not know what to expect, as we could not find any reviews of the hotel. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who directed us to our dinner just before the restaurant closed. Our room on arrival was spotless and was cleaned thoroughly throughout our stay. The food in the restaurant was varied and fresh, and my only problem was what not to eat!! The bar staff were very friendly and although we were not about for the entertainment on most nights, the magician was excellent.

As a family we really enjoyed staying at the Olimar II. However, the hotel and Cambrils are more orientated to a Spanish market and this may not appeal to everyone. Those expecting the nightlife of neighbouring Salou may be a little disappointed.

The bottom line for us was that we had a great stay at the Olimar and would highly recommend the hotel. Great value and a great hotel.

“excellent hotel”

It was mine and my partners first holiday together and after a minor hiccup i have never had such a wonderful stay....We were unfortunatly delayed with flight and upon arriving in cambrills were told that it was too late to check into hotel but ollimar put us up in their sister hotel port eugine. After a lovely night sleep in the hotel we finally checked into the ollimar. Upon entering our room(which was very clean and had excellent veiw)we found an apology letter and a bottle of wine and freshly cut fruit. We were extremely impressed. We went half bored and the food was varied from day to day, always hot and very authentic spanish. The entertainment was spot on,inc a very very good magician. The staff were very friendly and the only bad thing i have to say is we only booked 1 week. The beach is in very easy walkin distance and there are some good bars nearby both busy for the party goers or relaxed on port side for the more laid back.I would reccomend this hotel to any1. The only sad thing is i have been back to cambrills twice since and ollimar always fully booked.....Now that tells you something. Enjoy x
