Stayed here with our three kids.pleasantly suprised as id read some of the reviews already.Apartsments were clean with a good fridge& mircowave.Already knew we,d have to hire toaster & kettle,but didnt bother,just boiled water in one of the pans provided.However we did think it was quite sneaky to charge us for a travel cot (28 euro) for the week as we,d already requested one when booking.there was no kids club,the lifegaurd was there for two days of our week stay( He seemed more interested in getting money for the sun loungers) i have never being charged at any hotel ive stayed ever for a sun lounger,the restaurant stopped serving food at 4. The train really didnt bother us at all,once it went by u forgot about it & we were staying beside the pool in the main complex with a small baby! Walked to salou one evening, enjoyed a decent italian just up from hotel on the left.all in all a decent holiday at a grt price.

We read a lot of reviews before we went to the Pins. At that point, they were mostly good. Then the week before we went the reviews turned scathing. Here's what i learned from comparing reviews and from firsthand experience.

Pins Platja has five apartment blocks. Two are RIGHT BESIDE the sea. ~Three are on the other side of the road RIGHT BESIDE an unbelievably busy and loud trainline. We booked with Thomsons, we were right beside the sea. And i mean, you walk out the apartment, turn left and you're on a huge, clean wonderful beach. It was stunning.

The supermarket is great, and it's right over the road, the bakery was brilliant.
The pool was fantastic, clean, safe and well watched.
The bike hire was cheap and good. You are right on a great bike path that takes you all the way to Salou and Cambrils - no traffic - just bicycle path - really really flat, and great and an amazing view the whole way
The restaurants were well priced, child friendly and good.
The buses to and from Salou, Cambrils, Barcelona and Portaventura were very cheap, very fast and very regular.
It was a GREAT break and i hope we return.
The beach is lovely although the waves were wild.

A few negatives that i learned before i went.

*take your own washing liquid and toilet roll - you get some toilet rolls but they run out fast
*take plenty of towels. They give you tons of towels but they get wet, covered in sand etc.
*you need to rent a kettle and toaster
*the remote they give you for the telly doesn't work
*Clean your own apartment. We didnt see the cleaners once.

Portaventura was ACE - take your own food, the food on site is TERRIBLE! and appalingly overpriced. Our sandwiches brought from the apartment were great! Getting the express pass at Portqaventura is definitely worth the money

After incident, brilliant help and advice from owner and son of the Mucky Duck pub. Food is excellent, staff friendly out, altogether one of the best bars in Crambrils.

The apartments were basic and spacious but clean. We took our own travel kettle as we knew we'd have to hire one. They're right on the road/beach and the bus stop is just a few metres down. Central location for walks into Salou or Cambrils. There's a few places to eat and the Mucky Duck does excellent breakfasts. The supermarket stocks everything you'll need. The pool was like getting into a warm bath. The pool bar was only open during the day and one night, they did good value snacks and meals. Although its right near a train track and people have complained about it, the train goes by that quick that once you've heard it, its passed. I'd definately stay here again. As for people that's moaned about it, surely you don't expect 5* luxury for the price you've paid.
