“2nd visit and I'll be coming for a 3rd this year”

I stumbled across the hotel as a few days before my holiday my tour operator went into liquidation. We had our flights and transfers to calella booked so we just looked around trip advisor for a good hotel and called the hotel president the day before we flew.
They were able to accommodate us for 7 nights arriving the next day. I look back now at that event as such a blessing as we would have never discovered this delightful hotel had it not been for the tour operator going into liquidation!!! I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff cared so much about their hotel. The cleaning regime was like a military operation, I never saw anything untidy or dirty. The pool area was cleaned all day every day. I even witnessed them cleaning the leaves of the outside plants to freshen up the entrance apperance! Rooms were cleaned each day and I really felt like the staff cared about their job. The staff throughout the hotel spoke excellent English although they catered for many different nationalities also. When I go on holiday, there are 3 things important to me, the cleanliness, the food and the service. All three of these things were exceptional at this hotel. The food was freshly prepared each service and served as a buffet. There was a number of different options catering for a variety of tastes. I was really impressed with the quality of the food, they never re-heated anything as is sometime the case with buffets. I have returned to the hotel again since this experience here and my second experience was actually better than the first. The entertainment is varied and staff helpful. I am just about to book again for this year. The perfect place for a great holiday

To say anything negative about the President Hotel would be nit picking. Perhaps the ancient furniture in the rooms and lack of hooks in the bathrooms maybe.....
The approach roads to the hotel may give you a bad impression as its narrow and next to a graffitti covered open storm sewer. But the hotel itself is superb. The common areas and rooms are clean and spacious. The bathrooms are large and all rooms have a balcony with excellent double glazed doors and blackout curtains.
There are 3 pools with amusingly cold water, which is fine once your in.The top pool, although an odd shape is the best for swimming. If you sunbathe around this pool, beware the nasty little flies that can give you a wicked bite that will itch like crazy.
The crowning glory of this hotel is the food. Every meal is an all you can eat buffet. The variety and quality of the food is what you would expect to find at a 4 or 5 star hotel. The prices of drinks are reasonable for meals and at the bar. All staff are friendly and the receptionists speak good English.
I would recommend you get a room at the back, overlooking the pool on at least the 5th floor, as those rooms get the sun in the evening.
There was entertainment provided must nights. The TV in your room received 3 English speaking channels, CNN, Eurosport and ITV 3.

“Great vacation at Hotel President in Calella!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

Just come back from a seven days vacation at Hotel President in Calella, Catalonia. Pretty crowded in this period of the year, but despite different nationalities and crowd the hotel staff was up to duty and make our vacation memorable. We had a hotel room with the view in front of the hotel and close to elevator. At the beggining we were a bit worried about the noise, however everything was fine. In some nights was some noise from the Oxygen disco, closely located to hotel, but was not a daily(nightly) rule. The room was pretty spacious - for two adult people - and amenities were working properly. The main thing that I want to mentioned was the buffet restaurant. We booked a half board ticket and just enjoyed the quality of the food and service. High variation of the food, fresh and good quality and also in enough quantity for everyone. Almost different menu in every night, including dinner themes, in order to avoid routine. Breakfast was also great. Everything you need for a good start in the morning for all tastes. Just one comment here: the quality of the coffee and juice at the breakfast were not quite good. I am a coffee lover and enjoying having a good breakfast with a good coffee at the end, so sometimes I decided to take the coffee elsewhere. So, overall I was pretty happy with the vacation at Hotel President. If you want a good hotel with a great staff and with a delicious buffet restaurant this hotel is a good choice.

“Nice and clean”

The rooms are nice and clean, with a balcony. The garden and pool area is very nice. Lots of different food at every meal, but nothing I really loved to eat. You will have to pay for drinks, included water. No coffee or tea (except for breakfast), not even with desserts.
The hotel have wi-fi in the reseption, but this does not work very well at all. I gave it up!
The location is good; the beach down the road, restaurants and stores near by. Staff does not speak very well English, though.
