This hotel is perfect for the money, the rooms are basic but we had no problems at all, the shower was excellent and we had a huge balcony. The hotel itself is beautiful, loads of different corners to discover, gothic style with intricate celings etc...It is situated in the old town so loads of narrow streets with lots to discover if you make the effort. 5 mins walk from the beach in one direction, 3 mins walk from a lovely hilly park in the other. Breakfast was fine, something for everyone, the usual continental mix. We just had b and b so can't comment on the other meals! I would not recommend this hotel for families with young children as the pool is tiny, but very clean. Be warned tho, Calella is not cheap, be prepared to pay about the same for food and drink as at home. Around £25-£30 for 2 main meals and 2 large drinks. I can recommend Jordis bar, just down the road from the Hotel Vila, they do indonesian/Thai food and it is delicious. Also, there is a meat lovers paradise round the corner called 'The Caves' where you can get spit roast chicken and any kind if meat imaginable! If you are a vegetarian prob best avoid this town!!! We had a fantastic break (4 nights) at the Vila hotel and had no problems at all, highly recommended for a 2/3 star break - Don't be unreasonable and expect a 4/5 star holiday for a cheap price, other reviewers are not living in the real world!!!!!

first impressions in reception were good until i saw the room . an extra bed had been put in for our daughter so that meant we couldnt get into wardrobe so couldnt unpack. light was hanging off the wall ,sink in bathroom cracked,wood was rotten and not safe on juliet balcony. it was like a youth hostel full of students who had no respect for other guests .my daughter was in the pool when 3 girls started throwing chairs in ,not what you want on a holiday . we were even told we couldnot use patio as we were told it was german time ,for there use only.we were booked for 2 weeks but had to move hotels after 3 days could not stand it any longer ,after asking if we could have another room we were told we had one of the good ones .if ours was good i would not like to see the rest .avoid this hotel at all costs.

stayed here for a week in august 11 from the moment we checked in it was like a german youth hostel, the staff was rude obnoxious and so unhelpful, we checked into our room to find mould on the ceilings the room was dirty and as for the so called balcony well it was a window with a rail it was full of german teenagers throwing pint pots into the pool ( which my bath is bigger ) and chairs as well when it came to meal times was unfortunate enough to go half board which does not include a drink and told off for bringing our own drinks into the restaraunt even tho the germans can bring their own drinks into the restaraunt please avoid the hotel at all costs.

rooms cleaned daily,5night stay and sheets changed.breakfast was as expected,lots of choice.no outlook from rooms,and several dogs in rooms,so lots of barking!im a light sleeper and slept well.stayed in all resorts in costabrava and disliked this the most.no english at all.we got by tho!quiet beach even in august,hardly any children around!!!beware,someone tryed to snatch my bag on the beach!lovly n hot so made best of resort,train to barcelona a must,very easy,14euros for 2 return.expensive resort.
