“Great hotel, good location, shame that indoor pool was not heated.”

This hotel was good value for money. The location was fantastic right on the promenade opposite the beach. The standard of cleanliness was brilliant we even saw the "pool cleaner", check the water quality. Food was good and service was excellent. Shame there is no entertainment but you cant have everything. Really disappointed that the indoor pool was not heated as we had looked forward to a nice swim. All staff were pleasant except the male receptionist (we got the impression he was more interested in something on the computer) however, both female receptionists were friendly and helpful. Just one word of warning the rooms without a seaview were pretty oppressive and the view of walls were not to be recommended.

We thank you very much for your kind words about our hotel and we hope to see you again in the next future in any our hotels. Entertainment is during high season, from June to mid September. The indoor pool is heated at a nice temperature, but is not necessary to be hot. About the male staff of the reception we take note of your opinion and transfer it to the head receptionist. We are sure he will be more kind with you in the next occasion.

“Beaucoup de propagande / not a great deal”

I stayed 10 days in Hotel Maritime, Calella in September 2010 and am very disappointed. I had soar throat every night after meal and this stopped when I left the hotel. I think the cooking oil was not of a good quality. The TV channels were limited to 1 English, 1 French, 1 Russian, 1 German and a few Spanish which could not be received in rainy days. The remote control was only handed over at the reception against a 10 Euros deposit! The staff had a strange attitude and would never throw a glance at you, never smiled and never said hello. The cleanliness was also a concern. I found on a few occasions hair on the bed and in the bathroom probably belonging to the lady who was cleaning the room. The first day I arrived, the toilette was not clean and also had my bed sheet changed once because of stains on it! Generally, sheets and towels were not changed every day and soaps not provided enough. Soundproofing was also terrible while flashing toilette in upper room. The sound echoed through air conditionning system which was very disturbing when I was trying to sleep. Although, I had already paid 20 % in advance on booking.com through Visa card, on departure day, the Manager was insisting that I should also sign the Visa voucher not only for the remaining bill but also for the whole including the 20% advanced payment! This would have enable them to recharge me again regardless of the advanced payment. Once arrived there, I also realized that there was an exageration in size on the photos of the hotel shown on Internet and the real size in regard to swimming pool and the rest. Everything was indeed smaller.

In the Hotel Maritim in Calella and also in the rest of the GHT Hotels, a high rate of customers repeat every year and this fills us with pride, but we are not satisfied and we strive every day, so our guests can get with us a great vacation.

But with some of your comments we only have to disagree. Starting with your soar throat, we are very sorry about that but in our opinion the cooking oil has no relation to it. We strictly follow the rules imposed by the Spanish Ministry of Health, by the Catalan Government and by the ISO 9001 rules, internationally recognized.

The clean of our establishments are top priority and a high percent of our guests are very satisfied with it. The towels are changed every day (only if you throw them in the appropriate place, the sheets twice a week (as we care for the environment).

Eventually, we are not thieves, as you may suggest in the Visa comment. You have to sign it as you sign the voucher when you buy in your supermarket. Booking.com does not charge anything to you, but they provide us with your credit card information to charge you the deposit. At the hotel Maritim only wished (they do it with every client that has paid an advance by Visa) with your signature, the confirmation of your authorization for the first payment (the deposit of 20%). The photos of this or any other hotel of our group have never been manipulated.

“Good typical holiday style hotel”

Room comfortable, clean & well serviced. Restaurant good for 'buffet style' breakfast. Dinner not the best , all the hot dishes appeared to have a taint of fish, including the vegetables. Reception very helpfull with good bagage and changing facilities available for guests with a late departure time.

“Good Hotel”

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Maritim:
Hotel:
Excellent location.Right on the sea front.Trains do run past right along the front,but not really noticable.Great resturants close by aswell as main shopping area.
Rooms:
We had a very good room on the top floor with a sea view to the left and mountains to the right.Very clean and serviced daily.Do take a travell kettle if you want that morning cuppa!!! We also hired a fridge for 18 Euros which was vital for milk,water,etc.
Staff :
Very helpfull and friendly.One in particulal girl spoke very good English.
Food:
Breakfast very good.Do your own toast.Always bacon,eggs,cereal,fruit.Do try the pate.Evening meal was sadley disapointing.Only ate there twice.Bit like a school canteen.No atmosphere.Felt like you had to be straight in and out.Didnt like the table being cleared as you were still eating.Found the food over cooked and tasteless.Didnt expect to find fishfingers for an evening meal!!! However,drinks very reasonable and cheaper than alot of bars.
Summary:
All in all,avery good hotel for the money.Would stay again but only on a B&B basis.Roof top area very nice.Pool area small but didnt use it as beach so close.Not alot of English people around but not a problem for us.Good steak at Casa Carlos but not cheap.The resturant round the corner,next door but one,(cant remember the name) is much cheaper and better.Mostly Spanish eating there.Beach bars expensive for even botteles of water.

“Great hotel, great food, really clean, close to beach”

This hotel was much better than expected. Very clean, great service. We were half board and this was a great option - plenty of choice for breakfast and plenty of choice for dinner. Food was really good and exceeded our expectations.
Great location 5 mins from the beach, 10 mins from train station (only 1hr and 7 Euros to Barcelona and trains every 20 mins) - we werent aware of trains going past as some reviews state that the hotel is close tothe railway.
Quite a small pool but was able to get 3 sun loungers - nice poolside bar. The best bit was the sun deck on the top of the hotel - great views, artificial grass, sun loungers and two jacuzzis!!
Some staff on reception were more helpful than others, service in the restaurant was great as was the maid service - room cleaned and beds made every day.
Short walk to bars, clubs, bowling, crazy golf etc. Only downside was that the resort was quite full of German teenagers but none were staying at this hotel!!
