“Ok, clean and basic but very noisy.”

We booked this hotel on a room only basis and were disappointed to find there wasnt a kettle in the room. The rooms are simple but clean.

However, the hotel walls are so thin you can hear every single word the people in the next room are saying. We were woken at 3am by the people above having s*x and the noise from drunks when the nightclubs emptied at 3am/ 4am kept me awake every night.

It was ok, clean and basic but noisy.

“Nice hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

Nice clean room, basic with aircon. Room cleaned every morning and fresh towels if you wanted them. Food and drink were plentiful as we were all inclusive. Food was ok, well cooked and quite a variety. Staff were mostly very helpful and polite. Hotel was full of German teenagers who could be a bit boisterous and noisey but did'nt cause us any problems. Only fault was absolutely no inhouse entertainment at night.

“This hotel is for the under 30's”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

If you're under 30 and looking for some action, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a holiday that is chilled out with your family or in a couple, then this is going to be an awful place to stay! The bar area felt a lot like a youth hostel with many young teens/twenties drinking as much as possible as quickly as possible. There were problems with the young ones spitting over the balconies onto other guests whilst outside in the smoking area, which was really rather vile!

The room itself was grubby but toilets, bath, towels etc were clean. I don't think it is the cleaners fault though. I'm pretty sure they spend most of their time cleaning vomit of of walls and floors from the young guests.

I thought the food was going to be completely awful but in all honesty it was a mixed bag. It wasn't as bad as I thought after reading other peoples reviews. Dining was not a relaxing affair and there was always a mad rush to find a table to eat at.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families.

“Not suitable for a relaxing holiday”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

Do NOT go to this hotel if you need a relaxing break. The majority of guest are rude, silly little teenagers who are over excited to be away from home and have access to alcohol! It is a shame because if it wasn't for the guests, the hotel itself is fine. Its's not exactly the best place I have been to but it is kept clean and the staff are polite and helpful (although there is the odd incompetent member of staff who is allergic to smiling but on the whole they are OK). The food was basic - better than I had expected after reading the reviews - its possible they are trying a bit harder after receiving bad reviews. A lot of the food can be over-salted and greasy but you should be able to find something reasonable. The dining hall is very much like a canteen however and meal times were NEVER a relaxing experience even if you try to go at quieter times. Again, this is due to the type of guests they tend to attract - tacky club 18-30.

Calella itself is good for those who like clubbing and has a fair amount for young kids but nothing if you are a couple with good taste or a family with older children. The beach is OK. Quite large. But the sand is very coarse and the sea doesn't feel safe if you are not a strong swimmer. Beware of the steep dip as you go into the water.

We went for 2 weeks and got bored. 1 week at this place is definitely enough unless you plan to go on quite a few day trips e.g. Barcelona, Monserrat etc...but beware that they are very pricey days out. In fact, with respect to almost everything in the area, it was either cheap rubbish or over-priced. Be aware of this if you want to go out for meals.

Overall, I would say stay well clear and you will only have a good time if you are an easy-to-please party goer, in which case, you will probably love it!
