“Amaika best of the pick.”

Me and the Mrs have stayed at the Amaika twice before, both times for a long weekend. We're there again next month for a 7night A/Inc. deal.
We love it....Better food than either the Calella Palace or the Olympic.
Sometimes the Amaika closes down for a few months over the winter and you may get moved to either the Palace/Olympic. DON'T go to the Olympic:Noisy, motorway standard food, and staff could't care less no matter what you issue is!
If you get asked to moved go to the Palace? Then ask for an upgrade to Gold if your on the All/Inc. deal. Remember you've paid more to stay at the Amaika, you WON'T get any dosh back, but they will work out a deal to compensate at the Palace. You'll be lucky to get an extra tea-bag in compo at the Olympic.

Room Tip: Only been in winter time, never too noisey at either Amekia or Palace. Honeymoons/Courting Couples...

“titanic”

the amaika, glad we went there, hotel is absolutly brilliant, all set out like the titanic, but staying afloat, great location, 1 min walk to beach, when you first walk into the reception the main desk
gives you the welcome feeling, rooms are very well set out, very comfy, cleaned regulary, The restraunt is a replica of the great dinning room, clean and well presented, meals are buffet style
with loads of choices, maybe too much to make your mind up what you want to eat and HOT, not like some other hotels where it can be warm/cold and left out for hours, the bar area is very nice, but the staff appear to be on holiday as well, (slow to serve, quick to chat to each other)
calella is a great town, talk and join in with the locals you will have plenty of fun, this is the 4th
h.top we have stayed at and will return again......eat-drink-and fall over the kerbs....ace

Room Tip: front rooms over look the pool area and sea veiw

“Going Downhill”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Stayed in Amaika for 3rd time in last 3 years and have to say the hotel is going downhill. The food is ok nothing more, the staff are a mixed bunch between very helpful and cheery to down right surly. It is in a lovely resort and should make more of itself.hotel is best suited for couples or groups of friends but not for families and children (Calella Palace better for these).
Have one very serious complaint - during stay a barman was accused of having an incident with one underage girl staying in hotel (no idea if true or not!)He was arrested and taken away by police and then a fight broke out between family and bar staff with glasses and bottles thrown, punches etc .After calm restored the was no explaination or appologies to other guests re incident which was very bad from a management point.
Would have to say would query management running of hotel !!
Until the update and upgrade hotel and get better attitudes to guests i could not recommend to anyone and won't be back.

“Okay hotel, excellent shopping nearby, wouldn't go again though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We were forced to move here from our original hotel (Royal Sun). It didn't compare favourably. It's layout is designed on the Titanic (slightly odd, but quite pretty). The dining room is lovely, but was pretty crowded, the chairs and tables are very hugger-mugger and you're constantly crashing into other diners (not all of whom have manners their mothers would be proud of).

The food was pretty much identical to the Royal Sun so I won't write it all out again here.

The room we had was vast, even with four beds in it. My youngest son was given a fold-out chair to sleep on - he didn't mind, but I thought it was very poor as I'd paid the same price for him as for the adults. the bathroom was a good size with room to hang things to dry.

There is a lovely old church nearby and some very pretty squares. The shops are excellent - hundreds to choose from and there's everything you could possibly want and the prices are pretty good value.

Our room had a view of Calella and the distant hills and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the beach. You do need to use a subway to get under the railway. When we were there, it had rained heavily and the subway had flooded and was unusable - you don't see this until you're halfway in, so be cautious.

The reason I wouldn't stay here again is that the staff were not friendly and polite, and in some cases, were downright rude. I had asked one of the receptionists a question and she replied to me very aggressively and I felt a bit upset. My husband was also treated like a small child at the bar and informed 'no more for you' even though he was far from being drunk. I have to say that one of the receptionists (a lady in glasses) was very nice and helpful, so go for her if you can. The restaurant staff and cleaners were always pleasant.
