booked a week away from the british winter to this hotel and wasnt expecting to much for the price we paid.
Arrived at 7pm to a closed reception and a note on the door for us to ring..10min later someone turned up with an envelope and key for number 20.He hadnt got a clue where it was on the complex so after ten mins we eventualy found it and omg.It looked like a grubby white cuboard door, the entrance to the apartment, and what hit us was the smell of damp and how dark and small it was.
The patio door wouldnt close properly( a 6inch gap) and the bathroom had seen better days.As we couldnt leave the apartment due to the lack of security we went to bed hungry and couldnt wait for the morning...after the worst and uncomfortable nights sleep ever, as tthe matresses were so thin and the springs you could see .we went back to reception and asked to be moved.we were told that the complex was full. We stated that the room wasnt secure and we were two women on our own and we would leave. There was no way on earth we would have spent another night in that apartment.Amazingly he found us another room! larger, brighter, and a bit more updated. felt a lot happier and started to enjoy our holiday. The hotel is right next to the beach and dunes with plenty of space to park your car, and just a forty min walk into town.
Theres nothing to do at night at the hotel which was fine by us as it was nice and peaceful..we found a fabulous little bar/cafe on the sea front called ALTAMAREA, owned by a lovely young italian couple, miriam and steffano.
We can fully recomend the quality of there food, smoothies, and the best irish coffee and fresh orange juice ever!
So after a shaky start, the sun shone, 3 books read, and we had a lovely break..the hotel has so much potential, due to its location, its just tired and needs some financial input..
