“Terrific place to unwind and relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This was a great choice of hotel for a relaxing break from the British winter. The rooms are lovely – decorated very tastefully, in good condition, and with all the modern conveniences you expect in a top quality hotel. There’s even free internet – via an Ethernet cable – in the room, which is something that I always find refreshing given that so many properties tend to charge for it.
We stayed on the half-board package – the breakfast buffet was extensive and excellent quality, and the greeting at the restaurant each morning was always happy and attentive. The food options for the evening were the buffet option (same restaurant as breakfast), the Thai restaurant and the Spanish restaurant. Both of the a la carte options offer slightly reduced menus for half board customers, but both menus are more than good enough and we didn’t see any reason to add anything off the main menu. The quality of food at the a la carte restaurants was fantastic – absolutely perfect! The buffet was good but, given that I’m not a lover of buffets, I can’t say much more than that. Quality was good, service (i.e. for drinks) was ok, but I’d always prefer an a la carte option. Unfortunately, the other restaurants aren’t open every night and reservations can be difficult, so you have to eat a few times at the buffet.
The entertainment in the evening was pretty minimal and low key – only the lobby bar was open (presumably because we were off-season) and the musicians were talented but very similar. It got pretty repetitive after the first two nights. There is another bar downstairs which is bigger and looks more like what we would have been looking for but, as I say, it was closed which was a shame. Still, Corralejo is a 10-15 minute walk or a €5 taxi ride. We walked there most days for lunch at one of the many beach side restaurants (lunch is EXPENSIVE in the hotel!) and there’s plenty of chilled out bars for a couple of post-dinner drinks if the lobby bar entertainment isn’t for you.
The weather – not the fault of the hotel obviously(!) - is patchy in March, but that’s to be expected. We had a couple of days where it was baking hot, but a few rainy and cooler days. That said, when you’re in a hotel as nice as this, it’s not really a problem as you can just chill out in the lovely bedrooms. Or you can use it as an excuse to check out the wonderful spa – again, just what you would expect from a top quality 5* hotel, the spa is brilliantly kitted out and a wonderful place to go and relax for a few hours.
All in all, a great trip and a great hotel. We would definitely go back if we had the opportunity. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s definitely worth it!

Room Tip: I have never upgraded to a sea front room before, but I did on recommendation of other TA reviews an...

Dear Guest,

We wish to thank you for your review published on Tripadvisor and are delighted that you fully enjoyed your winter break with us.

Furthermore, we are pleased to hear that the room and the decoration met your expectations and that we had the possibility to offer you gratifying holidays.

It’s a pleasure to read that the quality and variety of our gastronomy offered in our half board system were to your satisfaction. We would like to explain you that our 3 a la carte dinner restaurants work on a rotating basis. Next time you would like to return to our hotel we recommend you at time of reservation to check with our reservation team, which restaurants are opened during your stay and you can book your table too. Our aim is to offer a high quality menu with the finest ingredients at a reasonable price at our Beach Club Las Palmeras. The price of our dishes is in line with other 5 star luxury hotels in the world.

In reference to the evening entertainment, we inform you that in our hotel we have every night a different artist playing international live music to suit all the clients’ tastes.

Once again we thank you for your comments and look forward to welcoming you at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real on future holidays.

Kindest regards,

“Excellent but pricey for the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Great hotel with excellent service, beautiful designs. The junior suite with sea view was spacious and very well decorated. It is on the ground floor so the view is not the best you can get.
We stayed just before school holidays in Feb, and it was very quiet - perfect for what we were looking for.
The kid club although quiet had some good art activities and the lady running it is very nice and accommodating.
The pools are very nice and nicely protected from the wind. Unfortunately, the water was quite cold, even the heated one. The kid pool was too cold. sadly kids are not allowed in the spa / indoor pool which was a low down with the cold outside pool. The hotel could do a special kid hour!
Spa is fab and the hydro pool is great and very clean. Treatments are very good but very expensive!
Restaurants are all good and operate on rotating days for opening so better check if you want to try them all. The buffet is extremely old with a good choice (both at breakfast and dinner).
The gourmet restaurant was again extremely expensive but nice food.

Wi- fi only works in bars / reception

Overall a great hotel with excellent service

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to leave your comment in Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay with us.

We are glad that our hotel design as well as the hotel services were to your complete satisfaction. Furthermore, it’s a pleasure to read that the kids club and the accommodation lived up to your expectations. Moreover, we regret that the beautiful frontal seaview from your suite was not to your special liking.

We are happy that you relished our hotel installations and that you had a great time in our Spa Bahía Vital.

In reference to the pool temperature, we would like to inform you that our pools are heated up to 27/28 C degrees; depending on the weather it sometimes can feel a bit colder.

As the quality of our gastronomy is always of great importance to us, we were particularly delighted to see that you found the variety and quality of our food served in the 5 restaurants to be excellent.

Regarding the wifi, we would like to inform you that our hotel offers free internet ADSL cable connection in all the rooms. Upon request our staff can turn your room in a wifi area for the duration of your stay, which has an extra cost.

In accordance with Canarian Government legislation concerning Spas, children under the age of 17 are not permitted entrance.

Once again we thank you for your feedback and it would be a pleasure to welcome you again at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real.

Kindest regards,
The General Manager

“Relaxed luxury at the Bahia Real”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

All the good things you'll read from other reviewers are true. This hotel is outstanding. Friendly, professional staff and excellent facilities. Great atmosphere. It's actually quite hard to come up with an original comment - just believe the praise. Certainly hope to make return trips. I went with my mum and we both loved it and will go back and I also intend to take my partner there.

Lovely lobby and friendly staff (except in the clothes shop and occaisionally at the pool)
Good restaurants
Great pool area, sheltered from the wind
Good size bedrooms and bathroom
No internet in rooms
Had to ask for tea/coffee in rooms. Wanted to charge 4 euros for few more sachets of coffee and milk until we complained.
Surrounding areas look like a war zone. Unfinished builings and empty ones left to rot.
Corralejo town is a bit 'kiss me quick' athough there were a few decent restaurants.

Room Tip: Balcony overlooking pool has sun from 10.00 to 14.00 hours

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for writing your comment about your recent stay with us.

Further, we are pleased to read that the lobby, the accommodation, the staff and the hotel installations were to your complete satisfaction. On the other hand, we would like to let you know that the unfurnished building situated at the backyard of the hotel, doesn’t influence negatively the quiet and peaceful ambience in our hotel. In reference to the wifi, we would like to explain you that our hotel provides upon request of the client, free cable internet or wifi in the accommodation. Next time, just ask our reception team, they will be happy to help you.

Concerning the room service, we inform you that the kettle service is free of charge and that the daily refurnish of teas, coffees and milk has an extra cost.

Once again we thank you for your comment and we would be happy to welcome you again at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real.

“Good but could be great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I and my partner stayed for a week in late January. The initial impression of the hotel is excellent with a well presented, grandiose reception area. The reception staff were always very helpful and polite and carried out there duties in a pleasant professional manner.

We stayed in a sea view Junior Suite, which was a good size and comfortable. The bathroom was well proportioned with his and hers sinks and a great power power and good sized bath.
The adjacent hotel bar was well staffed, service was quick and the bar staff helpful.
Breakfast had a good selection to cater for most palates but I echo the comment from a previous review regarding the coffee which was below standard.
The hotel beach restaurant was dissapointing in the attitude of the staff, who we found were not particularly loquacious and who didnt sell the menu in any way. We stopped using the restaurant after a disastrous attempt at a fish dish, which was taken off of the bill.
The evening buffet restaurant was disappointing, this needs to be worked on.
The hotel spa and gym are worth a visit with friendly and attentive staff. The gym has free weights not just machines and guidance from the fitness staff if required.

Availability of in room tea/coffee making facilities, wireless routers and other room extras needs to be advertised in order for guests to make more of there stay.

For those that do not want to pay for the extortionate mini bar there is a well stocked shop / mini market 5 minutes walk if you turn right out of the hotels main entrance.

Correlejo is definitely worth exploring, especially the harbour restaurants where we discovered two resturants where we had excellent meals for 30-50 euros for 3 courses.

We did encounter one of the senior hotel staff who is a regular in the celebrity photos that adorn the walls near the buffet restaurant. A tip from a well travelled guest - You really must try harder to respond to guests when they speak to you, no excuses as we tried on two separate occasions.

On the whole a good 5 star hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comment in tripadvisor. We feel honoured that you have chosen our hotel for your winter sun holidays.

Furthermore, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your Junior Suite and particularly liked our breakfast buffet. We thank you also for the praise given to our service and gum staff.

As the quality of our gastronomy is always of great importance to us, we regret to read that the food served in our buffet restaurant “La Alacena” and at the “Beach Club Las Palmeras” did not meat your expectations. Generally the variety and the choice of our 5 star food service is to the special liking of our international guest. Your comment will be taken into consideration, but as we explained the majority of our clients particularly enjoy our food service.

We hope to see you again on a future holiday in Fuerteventura.
