I got the last minute trip just 10 days before the departure. I went all inclusive as this was kinda retreat from the work stress and I did not want to get stressed to find a decent restaurant.

When I arrived to the hotel I thought that I got one of the not so good rooms. It was located behind the poolside rooms. Actually it was imho better than the poolside rooms as it was pretty windy whole week and my room was safe from the wind. Also sun was shining to my patio till 5pm. We had some nice card playing in the patio with my neighbours.

Room was cleaned every day and used towels were replaced with a new ones. For me room was superclean. Actually I was almost annoyed the smell of the cleaning agent when I was coming back from days activities.

The staff was generally very nice and heplful. Only one who stepped out of the line was pool bar guy Alvaro, who is the best customer service person I have ever met. Very chatty and always happy. If the staff was generally good, he was superb. On the negative side there was a short young bloke who was sometimes little rude when he was in the pool bar or in the evening bar.

I really liked the food. I love eat fish and salads so menu was really for me. If you like heavier stuff, the menu is maybe not for you. Usually there was fish and chicken for the proteines. I never saw the beef. Only breakfast was pretty dull with same stuff every day although selection of fresh fruits were excellent. I'm not the heavy eater in the morning so this was very minor minus.

Location of the hotel is little bit far away from the centre. For me it took like 20 minutes of walking to the centre.Old people can find this hotel to be little bit too far of the centre. Plus side for the location is that it is very near to the dunes and beach is also near. Nearest supermarket is only five minutes walk away. Remember you have to buy the water or fill the bottles from fresh water taps in the restaurant or in the pool bar.

The hotel lobby has a free Wi-Fi but it is only for the web surfing/reading mails. Trying to leech the latest episode of your fav tv show will not do :)

For the summary I found the hotel better than I expected and I really enjoyed my stay in Hotel Arena. Special greetings to Alvaro. Keep up the good work. Also greetings to John+Jeanette+others from Doncaster if you happen to read this.

“Great holiday!”

5th visit to the island and 3rd different place we have stopped in. Had 2 weeks all inclusive 20th Jan to 3rd Feb. We could not fault the place. Food, accommodation, fellow guests and staff were excellent. Smaller than other places we have visited and mainly older age group with very few children. Reception staff were very helpful and were really out to please. Will definitely go there again. Special mention to the Automation - Nelly. She was brilliant and we enjoyed Stretching/Pilates classes for an hour each day before hitting the beach. Dining room staff and bar staff very friendly and helpful. Couple of people complained about their food being cold. Ours was fine and there is a microwave if you really need it. Likewise, a couple of people said rooms near to the bar suffered from noise at night however we were on the opposite side of the pool and suffered no noise at all. Great choice of hot and cold food at all meals. Drinks in proper glasses! Hairdryer and kettle for hot drinks in our room which was kept very clean daily. Great holiday and brilliant place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms nearest the reception side get sun through the day, if you want shade, rooms on the opposite s...

We returned to the Arena 15th jan till 4th feb just gone, and had a brilliant time. However i must say we were very disapointed in the standard of food, its certainly gone down since june last year. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable, the entertainment isnt good ,nothing really for children more a couple hotel. The best bit are the staff,Alvaro (pool bar) and Andres restaurant, absoluteley brilliant, really cant do enough for you,not forgetting Nicolas and Lucas in fact all bar and restaurant staff, but you can tell there have been cut backs .They are extremely hard working and run off their feet.Dont know if id go back again if we did it would be to see our friends.IF you havent got great expectations on the food front you cant go wrong ,always salads and a very good breakfast. You get what you pay for.

Room Tip: suites are lovely, and sunny

“i felt more of a good 3 than 4 star.”

we stayed for one week and although it wasn't the hotels fault, our first night was spent in the 3 star across the road thanks to our tour operator ice lolly they had over booked us, and as we where a large family group of all ages that was a disastrous start, and didn't think the receptionist at arena was at all helpful.
The next day we got into our superior room's which are a block of rooms right opposite the pool with a small front patio at the front, rooms where clean and modern decor, comfy beds, the only downfall was we occasionally saw in the bathroom alot if tiny ants but only appeared to be in bathroom.
food was average, had one theme night mid week, only 2 or 3 choices of main meals, and food was repeated alot as well, but they had these very tasty doughnut type of pastry's that where yummy.
friendly bar staff, we were all inclusive and burgers and cheese toasties at pool bar where always cooked fresh to order. pools were cold but bearable, the evening entertainment varied, there was a good snake charmer night, the little karaoke guy was fab and tried his hardest to entertain everyone. I feel that the hotel amenities were very shabby and dated which is why i feel it was more a 3 star than 4.

Room Tip: the superior rooms poolside are very nice.

For what we paid for this 10 day all inclusive holiday at the Hotel Arena I would be hard pushed to find too many negatives. The breakfast is by far one of the best i have had at any hotel, lunch is a bit hit and miss but the pool bar serves snacks so you wont go hungry, evening meal is fine with lots of choices. The staff are excellent apart from the tall night porter who is rude and aggressive(I dont think he like to hear people laugh)The restaurant manager is top class and very helpfull.Nellie the young girl who is in charge of daytime entertainment is so sweet but she needs more resources. The evening entertainment is RUBBISH apart from Nellies Karoke nights,we went out most nights a cab into Corralego town is approx 3-4 euros,to stroll to the nearest bar takes about 10mins,or the main town about 15/20 mins.10 out of 10 for Alvaro who works the pool bar durring the day he is great and nothing is to much trouble for him.The room are cleaned every day.
I would warn any families with young children be carefull which beach you use most in the area are nudist and one is known as seedy beach which is adults only!!!!!!!
P.S. take a coat for evenings as it get quite chilly.

Room Tip: Try to get a room roubd the pool on the reception side sunny all day
