“Great Location, Average Hotel”

I went to Majorca las September with my husband and we were absolutely surprised about the beaches, especially Sa Coma Beach. It was absolutely gorgeous, as been in the best beach in the caribbean. It is a very big beach, with with and really fine sand, small waves and a nice place to stay.
We chose Blau Mediterraneo Club because of the price, but we we bought the package we thaught that we were going to the Blau Mediterraneo Hotel, the hotel just next to our, so when we arrive we were quite disapointed about our hotel, especially the room that althought was very big and clean, needs a refurbish asap because it looks as been excactly the same for the last 20 years.
The location was superb, but I should advice people that this is a families hotel, meaning that there are children everywhere and there are more facilities, activities and food for children than for couples.
We had half board and the dinner was not good, the food was just ok but the dinner room was ugly, really cold and you don´t want to be there for a long time.
If you want to move around the island and not stay too much in the hotel (as was our case) this is a really good place to chose, but if you want to stay just in one beach i won´t reccomend Sa Coma as first choice becaus it hasn´t good restaurants or bars where to go.

Room Tip: Don´t choose the ground floor rooms because you can´t leave the windows and courtains opens because...

“Positive experience”

OK so first of all you need to know that there are two Blau's in Sa Coma : one is a three star and the other is a four star and they are next door to each other. The Mediterraneo Club is the three star but its a really really good 3 star. Ok so there is no hairdryer in the room or beach towels available, but the rooms were well equiped, the grounds were gorgeous and the pools spotless. The sun loungers and parasols a little tired perhaps but thats a detail. The food was well cooked, simple with not a vast choice but the chefs made the most of the meat and the fish and we always found something that we liked. The hotel is extremely well siutated, the staff lovely however the cherry on the cake are the entertainers who get a five star. The kids club makes this hotel worth returning to.

“"We will not be back "”

The Blau Mediterraneo Club where do i start , The reception was poor , asked to get the TV fixed as it was not working on arrival , , still waiting !! and now back home , the apartments are dated and need updating walls in our apartment were dirty with hand prints all over the place ,windows disgusting with oily hand marks on our first day , Cleaning by maid was daily but , did not do a great job at all ,toilet area, tiles dirty and not cleaned properly, hand marks again.Pool area not bad to be fair on the hotel, but like most holidays you can be fighting for a sun lounger,( even though hotel policy to remove towels if beds not in use -they don't ) if it was not for the location next to a great beach , you would struggle,The pool staff on the whole were OK but could do with a course on manners, often you would find poo in the pool , i would put this down to the parents letting this happen , but the lifeguard did not seem bothered, Food your normal Spanish dishes on the menu ,The menu was rotated most days , but i can only describe the experience as a cattle market absolutely terrible, too many people in a over crowded restaurant people rude with No manners at all. food left on the floor and chairs, entertainment was poor, overall very poor, Rating should be 2 Star

Room Tip: The rooms are in a complex so its russian roulete what you get !!!

“great hotel in a quiet place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

This hotel was really great, despite some small minuses. It's really cozy, clean and the view from the balcony is amazing. It has a nice environment and the beach is half a minute away. Small minuses: no wireless internet connection, no lock on the bathroom door, no shampoos in the shower. Everything else was great, I would definitely recomend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Rooms were clean and spacious

“Just the place for a relaxing family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

We returned yesterday from a very enjoyable and relaxing (all inclusive) stay at this hotel.

Our normal holiday is to hire a villa with a private pool for up to a couple of weeks so approached this holiday with a little trepidation, especially having read some of the reviews on this website.

I was nervous about food options (my wife and I travelled with our two boys, 7&4), potential poor reception of Brits, accommodation, and also being roped into activities that would detract from a relaxing holiday with our children (wife & I work long hours and we wanted to spend our time with them).

I needn't have worried at all. The service was some of the best I've encountered outside of the States and UK (Previous hotels stayed in include Fairmont St Andrews, Turnberry Resort, and Waldorf Astoria). The staff work tirelessly to keep the resort clean and tidy and are abolutely unfailing in their happy attitudes to both adults and children. We were greeted in reception (late arrival, post midnight) with a fruit basket, sandwiches and bottles of ice cold water and had our bags carried to our room so we could manage the food we were given.

The team dedicated to children work really hard and seemed to get about 60 kids per day joining in. When we were asked a couple of times in the week if we wanted our boys to attend by members of the team, our decision wasn't questioned at all and we were wished a happy holiday. Despite not using the service. I've given the team a 5 out of 5 rating as other kids were so obviously loving the activities arranged and the Animation team.

Towards the end of our stay, three (local?) guys turned up at the pool and were a bit rowdy. In less than 5 minutes security turned up and very politely removed them from the premises - very impressive.

The family room we occupied was basic, but spotlessly clean and comfortable, air conditioned and had a basically equiped kitchen (we were all inclusive so didn't need it anyway). The room was cleaned everyday to an extremely high standard.

There were very few Brits at the hotel which we actually like as you get to meet other people from different cultures and tend to talk about things other than the weather back home, jobs, schools etc etc. It would be good if the continentals learned to queue though!! It can be a little annoying at a buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner when the Germans and Dutch in particular, simply refuse to adknowledge that you may have been waiting to serve yourself and just push in front. Particularly galling when you are constantly reminding your own children to remember their manners!!

That said, this is a difference in cultures rather a problem that lies with the hotel.

I suppose the above comments about queing also applies to sun loungers - There is a policy of non reservation, but it isn't enforced. Some of our 'North European' friends would 'reserve' a sun lounger with their towels and not appear until mid afternoon which doesn't seem very fair on those that want to spend the entire day by the pool. That said, there were very few occasions when people turned up and couldn't find space. We adopted the 'if you can't beat them.......' attitude and as an early riser, had no problems. People started to place their towels on the sun loungers after 8am and as long as you did likewise prior to 9-9.30 there wasn't any problem.

The food was very good, both in terms of quality and variety, and as someone who likes to go native when abroad, enjoyed the selection of Majorcan specialities that are offered at every meal, as well as the Spanish and Continental dishes on offer. The selection of Salads and Fruit were also extemely fresh and of high quality. There were also plenty of dishes that the children would enjoy such as sausages, pizza and chips should they not like the other dishes.

At the pool bar, there was Estrella Beer on tap, as well as coffee, fresh juices and soft drinks, with copious amounts of Ice Cream. Alfonso couldn't have been a better host!

The location is excellent. There are three pools at the hotel so wherever on the complex you are staying, there is one close by. The beach (which is the most crowded I've ever seen) is about 2 or 3 minutes walk away. My son & I went snorkelling pretty much every day and once out of the shallows, the water clarity is excellent with lots of fish to chase!

If you are looking for nightclubs and parties into the early hours, you might be disappointed as this is very much a family oriented town. Older teenagers may get a little bored I suppose. For our family, it was pretty much perfect.

One last point. We were leaving close to midnight but checkout was at midday. We left our luggage at reception (secure room) stayed by the pool all day, and then used the facilities they have for just this situation - Shower/Changing rooms so that you can get changed prior to a late departure - It essentially provided us with an extra day by the pool.

My overall comments? Great value for money, impressive and friendly service, good food, superb location and a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
